Hace un año, inicié este Thread con el fin de compartir experiencias con los compañeros de habla Hispana..

..hoy de nueva cuenta se abre este espacio.. Sin embargo con motivo de la reciente actualización de la plataforma de Line 6 Forums

quiero aprovechar para establecer algunos lineamientos que considero importantes para optimizar el buen funcionamiento tanto de los Threads como del Foro.

Esta reciente mejora como lo ha dicho ya Line 6 Miller no busca tan solo refrescar la imagen y dar a los usuarios nuevas opciones,

sino también la de re-organizar toda la información de: documentos, preguntas y respuestas, tópicos y demás..

Por lo que veo necesario el establecer algunos lineamientos y reglas dentro del Thread para impedir que volvamos a caer en el desorden..

..ya que en el pasado se contaba con un mega-post que contenia información tan variada como extensa y era practicamente imposible encontrar algo en particular.

Recording using POD X3 Live?

I recently bought a POD X3 Live and found about the USB audio drop out problem. So, I need tips on alternative ways to record using a computer, knowing that I use POD Farm Plug-in in Ableton Live. Please keep in mind that I live in Egypt and it will be very difficult to attempt the hardware fix. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

My computer can't hang when I have to many plugins (Pod Farm) being used at once.

I pretty sure it's not my computer though, this is a very good cpu I have, a beast. I think it has more to do with the music recording software I'm using, Magix Music Maker 10. This is particularly cheap software, like 60 bucks 4 or 5 years ago. My friend gave it to me. It does alright and can use the plugins, gearbox or pod farm. When I have 7-9 tracks using the plugins its tough for my computer to keep things smooth, no hick ups etc. Is this gonna be a problem no matter what kind of recording software I use? Is there a limit to how many tracks can use the plugins at once before it freaks even the best computers out. I was thinking about getting Cakewalk Sonar software. Will this help? I record guitar, bass and vocals dry through the POD X3 live and use plugins in the mixer of Magix Music Maker to get things to sound best so I want to have pod plugins on lots of tracks if needed. Please can some one give me the rundown/technical specs on this? Thanks.

Pod X3 Live blank screen and no sound

I went to my gig last night and my Pod X3 Live started with a blank lit up screen and no sound. All other buttons lit up correctly, could change patches/banks, tap tempo etc, but a full blank screen and no sound.

I thought it could be adapter problem so I used the Line 6 adapter of the other guitarist in the band, but nth changed.

I tried to start the unit in safe mode, it apparently started in Safe Mode (no other pedals lit up this time), but since the screen remained blank I could do NTH!!! So I had to play the whole pop/rock band gig with a guitar directly into PA as the lead player of the band. If you play one gig like that, you'll know what I suffered!

When I got home, I connected X3 to my PC and Monkey recognizes the device, so does Gearbox. I can change the patches in Gearbox, but still no sound.

And what is more funny Monkey doesn't show the firmware info and the driver details in its "update" page.

I tried to record into Ableton Live. There is such an extremely low level and distorted sound. It is clear that the device can change patches, I could hear it after I normalized the recorded tracks.

I also tried reinstalling the Monkey and the device drivers, but nth changed.

So this is my 3rd Line 6 Device that leaves me in frustration in the middle of gig on stage. I experienced the same with my Variax 700 guitar and also with my bass, both with the very common "suddenly some strings go softer or even silent than the others" problem.

So how angry should I be and what is your solution to my Pod X3L problem?

No firmware/driver update for X3 Pro with Monkey

Hi,

I've just bought an X3 Pro, and wanted to update the drivers and firmware, both of which are at 1.00.

I have the latest version of Monkey installed, and it identfies my X3 Pro is connected. However, in the updates tab, the only thing that shows up is the Applications sub menu. No drivers/ firmware options to be seen (which can be seen in the updates tab when I switch devices to my XT Pro). So there is seemingly no way to update the firmware or drivers!

Any help very much appreciated.

Sound Squeak when using pedal as volume or wah

Since the first day getting my podx3 live [bout a month ago], i hear some kinda squeak or long overtone of some sort when i rock the pedal back and forth when im not playing anything.

I read a question about a squeak but it sounded like it was coming from the user's pedal and not from the sound single from the pod.

Would like to hear some answers =]

This thread was started purely to direct people to the feature request page on this site which people are doing and that's great.

Whining and complaining doesn't achieve anything, so please don't drag down the intention of this thread with negativity.

There appears to be some misconceptions driving negative comments. Just because the POD X3 manages 2 tone paths doesn't mean it has 2 processors, it doesn't. If you open it up and peek inside you'll see just one Sharc processor in there. Also, with the improvements in the sound on the X3, Line 6 told us that the modelling was improved to take advantage of the processing power and the digital sample rate, this too would chew up a big chunk of processing power. The POD X3 has all the bass and vocal stuff in there already. It handles 8 tracks of digital data out the USB port at a high sample rate, more grunt gone on that too.

So, I am guessing that when the code cutters got hold of the hardware, they packed as much into the unit as the hardware could handle without leaving much room for any extras.

Where that leaves us is quite simple. We say thanks for making the POD X3 so much better than the PODxt, but if it's possible, could we see some of the new effects that have been developed for the M13 included in the POD X3?

It doesn't hurt to be polite. My parents taught me to say "please".

Using a Boss FV-500H pedal with the X3 Live

Was wondering how to calibrate this pedal when connecting it to the X3 Live. I connected it to the Pedal 2 Input as an expression pedal. The problem I'm having is the toe down position is minimum and the heel down position is maximum. How do I reverse this? Is this pedal compatible with the X3 Live?

Hi,

I have a problem with my POD X3Live.

I played 2 hours, pod was connected into computer via USB.

Next i turned off POD for 15min. Computer was still turned on.

When i turned on again, on the display showed first Line 6 Logo and next text "UPDATE FLASH".

When I update flash via Monkey on the display show text "UPDATE FLASH..."

But after restart POD X3 Live, this text is still on display .

Can you help me? Or i have to send my pod to repair?

I have a Line6 HD147, and I want to ask that, if im using a Line6 X3 Live as channel switcher thru Midi, can I use the X3 Lives other features?

For example : I make a sound with the X3 live to channel 1, then I make a sound with the HD147 to channel 2.

     Question! Installing my new POD X3L Gearbox.After install it and log on I did update firmware and flash memory.I so far everything proceeded good.After Monkey disappeared update all other drivers (photo). Is that supposed to be? By MONKEY-V1.26 does not have this problem!
   In addition, the device manual I read that in the SYSTEM-POD X3L should see ESN, au I do not. ESN is the Monkey! Device effectively communicates with your computer, Monkey and Gearbox.

I am having the 8000900C error between my X3 Live and my windows XP laptop. It worked without problems when I last connected them a few weeks ago. I read the related discussions but I cannot find any solutions. The X3 Live still works fine with my G4 Mac (10.4.11) but I would like to solve the problem with my laptop. Hum and Noise, Noise and Hum

This has probably been discussed many times , but I can't seem to find the answers.

Just got a X3 Live this weekend.

Using a Strat, thru headphones, or through a mackie mixer .... I'm getting a TON of Noise and Hum on pickups 1-3-5. So much so that most patches/presets are unusable due to the xtreme noise. A few presets even exhibit extreme noise using pickup positions 2 and 4.

I've also tried my humbucker guitar and it's a little better, but still more noise than a normal stage setup using a real amp. Waaayyy too much noise.

I've tried several different outlets throughout my house and it stays the same. I would certainly not be able to play this thing out live with this much noise and not being able to use pickups 1-3-5

Any ideas or solutions will be hugely appreciated. Thank you,

hello everybody @ line6 as a line 6 freak - not since the very first hour, but since i bought a pod xt live - i am now a proud owner of the pod x 3 live. i play it through a marshall 9100 poweramp and a hughes&kettner vintage 4x12 box. when i had to find a subject for a research work that i have to do for my diploma at the SAE in zuerich, switzerland, i came up with the idea of comparing a marshall jcm 900 with both the clean- und dist-channel-emulation in the pod x 3. my plan is to compare the pure pod sound with the pod played through the poweramp and the jcm 900 box, and to compare these with the real amp. i intend to really test the pod out, listening, measuring, comparing waveforms etc. empirically i would expect the pod to do a real good job in this challenge! it is clear to me, that you can't reveal your business secrets just for the success of my work, but... here is my question: could you help me with some deeper insights into the principles that are applied in the pod x 3? could you eventually give me more informations about how the models are designed? ... if it has something to do with convolution or whatever? are there books about programming audio dsp which could help me to understand better how the pod really works? hi I have a little problem with my pod x3

When i change on the stampboard the effect from lets say 1d to 1 c...sound from gearbox hold the line solo (good sound for alive from Pearl Jam...any other suggestion is welcom) and change to Lifeson sound Xanadu (good for bridge sound Alive from pearl jam...any other suggestion is welcom) it is oke. but if i change back again the sound is dropped a few seconds. Irritating while playing with the band on stage and practising.

How can i make sure that will not happen. I have this problem all the time with changing from effect to effect.

Also sometimes he is out of control with volume suddenly or goes to the effect 2

extreme cross modulation to aux in channel

I wanted to track two guitars with the following dual tone configuration.

Guitar one to guitar input processed with tone one routed to direct out left.

Guitar two to aux input processed with tone two routed to direct out right.

Both guitars with a high gain distortion sound.

I noticed an extreme cross modulation from the processed signal of tone one into the aux in channel every time a jack connector is put in to the aux input.

First I though it might be a misfunction of my device but I ran the same setup with the devices of one of my collegues and there was the same effect.

I guess this cannot be normal.

So what can I do to prevent such cross modulations?

USING CABINET MODELER OR NOT?

i have been tweaking this unit.

it never ends, i am using a 5150 peavey with an mc 212 cabinet, (marshall), and lately i been really bothered by the sound i am getting, using the cabinet modeler it seems to add a weird overall bass, and i have to turn almost all the way down the bass on the x3 live, to make it sound somewhat decent but still it lacks something. i tried today without the cabinet modeler just the amp model assuming that my cabinet will color the sound anyway, what i found was a more clear sound, that does not distort as much, and you can turn up the bass on the amp model, and there you go, that amp starts pumping bass all over the way it is supossed to be. i dont know if any one has experienced this i would love to hear from you guys.

No Sound from POD X3

Hi all,

This is the situation. I downloaded a patch into my X3 and saved it. Half way playing through my X3, suddenly the sound gone. I tried to change to other preset, there was still no sound. Below were my actions trying to rectify the problem:

- switched it OFF then ON again - no sound

- changed to TUNER mode, the tuner did not have any input signal.

- tried using other guitars and cables - no sound

- swtiched it OFF then ON it again the next day - no sound

Im totally clueless of what had happened to my unit. For info, my unit has never had any problem for the past 2 years. Please help.

I am using GearBox to edit settings on the Pod X3 live.

In GearBox is there a way to view both amp model settings at the same time without have to switch back and forth using the Tone 1 and Tone 2 buttons.?

If not, does anybody know of an alternative program which exposes both amp models at once?

X3 Pro + shortboard footswitch questions

I've been thinking about selling off my X3L and getting an X3 Pro + shortboard. I have a couple of questions about footswitch controls...

First question: Can I set up the reverb switch per patch to control comp/amp/loop/verb? Or am I limited just to turning reverb on/off with this switch?

Second question: Can I use any footswitch in the same way I use the "TONE 2 / HOLD FOR DUAL" switch on the X3L?

Some of you may know that I have recently acquired an AxeFX Ultra - this will be a very short (and hopefully informative) post on my impressions so far:

• Power Amp section - Incredible detail & control have been given to this section of the Amp modeling and IMO, this is the biggest feature that sets it apart from the rest. Just by changing some of the 'advanced parameters' for the power amp you can make it both sound and feel like 20 different amps. Sag and Master Volume controls effect how the amp compresses as well as accurately reflecting the changes in frequency response you would hear from a real tube amp - these work better than any master volume or power scaling circuits I have heard to date. It seems to mimic actual sound pressure into a mic, even at very low volumes.

• Preamp section - The preamps also provide numerous 'advanced parameters' which greatly influence the sounds produced - for instance, the Tone stacks can be moved pre, post, or even after the power amp, providing 3 different sounds & responses. The Tone circuits can also be 'tuned', moving all frequency bands higher or lower, greatly effecting the overall character of the sound. Other parameters include Warmth, Thump, Low & High cut freq, Bright Cap size, Presence freq, Active or Passive tone circuitry, Transformer match, Cab resonant freq, etc.

• Signal chain/Effects routing - Although sometimes a bit time-consuming, this unit offers the most flexible & complete signal routing options I have ever seen in a guitar processor, and yes that includes the GT-10 (or pretty much any other rack effect) The signal can be split into up to 4 different effects paths and mixed/summed to stereo at the end.

• Effects - Plenty, and very high quality including low, high, and bandpass filters and an infinitely programmable Wah.

• My overall impression - I have never experienced anything like this. It's a whole new dimension for me, and I truly believe I could be content to never play through my tube amps again (yes, even my beloved '65 Super-Reverb) - I could never have said this before.

Is there a document that matches the Line 6 model/cabinet/effect name to the corresponding real name for the X3L? I've searched this forum to no avail, pardon me if I missed it. I have found a utility that fills in the names in Gear Box, but it appears to be Windows-only and I am on a Mac.

Hola como les va? soy otro feliz poseedor de un Pod X3, y tengo una duda. No logro conseguir sonidos realmente limpios, con la simulacion del Roland JC120. Me llama la atencion, probe dejar solo el amp, y la simulacion de cajas. Con el gain en 1 e igual sigue distorsionando. Sera un problema de mi pod? o alguna mala configuracion?

Probe tambien bajar el volumen de mis pickups, (EMG 81). Y el "problema" continua.

Tambien tengo el pod totalmente actualizado con el Monkey.

Espero que me puedan ayudar.

When I hook up my Pod X3 Live to the power amp in of my combo amp, even when using line level, the sound is significantly (unacceptably) quieter than when I go through the guitar input. Does this mean that I need to add an external preamp before or after the pod to use this input?

I get a free pod farm to use with mi pod x3 live, but they don't work. When I try to use it show the mensage

"No compatible Line6 USB divice have been detected", and show the options, UX1 UX2 GX KB37 TonePort UX1...... Until Guitar port".

After that the software open but don't work, there is a mensage in the botton " NO autorized device conected, pod farm cannot process audio"

I folowed the instructions of the "pod farm use guide" but nothing work. What I can do to solver that problem?

Hi there

I raised this a few months ago after I was unable to register my X3 Live, which I bought new. I initially raised it as a question on the forum, I got an answer from another user which was essentially "try again tomorrow". Essentially the problem is that when I enter the serial number it says it's already registered. (I don't know how, because it was bought new (or so I thought) from a reputable London dealer.) Anyway, I let it slide because I didn't really need to register at the time.

I need to use it with POD Farm now however and the POD Farm software is not recognising the unit - for some reason I think this is because it isn't registered properly.

Could you help me register the unit and also get it running with POD Farm please?

And I can't get any sound of my pod!!!

I just purchased props' Record. Smugly assuming I was more intelligent than the average guitarist, I wanted to use my computers soundcard to bypass the whole "usb-dropout/latency/etc. etc" issue. I figured that it wouldn't be a problem if I only used the usb to control the floor-unit via Gearbox and to authorize the extra line 6 tones in Record. I guess I underestimated the thorough prevalence of X3L USB-aphasia Syndrome's effect on the unit's fundamental functionality from the aberrant, corrupted secondary level functionality.

USB connectivity=null direct out xlr, null live out 1/4''.

s/pdif still works (but I wanted to record my guitar dry with s/pidf, and stereo wet with xlr's, I may have even wanted to monitor through my "Stck PwrAmp" with my old friends, the 1/4" output twins. I guess I'm just greedy).

Who do I talk @ to get this mutha' fixed 'er suntin?....Dang.

I got an pod x3 a while ago. And it worked 60% of the time, I would either get good sound or just alot of humming and noise. But now it wont work anymore :-(

Does anyone else have/had this problem? It happens when i use the pod on my amp and computer. I get just get noise through the XLR outpust also, so maybe its some kind of hardware problems. If anyone one know what to do, then please tell me.

I'm just curious... Has anyone ever seen the X3L clip light?

i have a really high gain patch in my X3L... and I'm sure I can hear a slight digital clipping going on... but my clip light doesn't come on...

so i know that there's certain FX's setups in my XT that used to sound like that and not show a clip light, whereas others would show the clip light... but the problem i have is that even if I turn up all the vol and gain knobs on an amp and stomp I can't get the clip light to show on my X3L.

I'm assuming it's broken, but does anyone know of an FX/amp combination on their X3 that will always get teh clip light on so I can test... I have high gain pickups in all my guitars so I have the power to clip... so to speak, lol

Pod X3L: two pedals, each exclusively for one tone?

Hi, is there way to configure Pod X3 Live with 2nd expression pedal in that way to have each pedal exclusively for one of two tones? For example built-in pedal for tone 1 and second pedal for tone 2? I cannot find it anywhere, when I connect the second pedal, the Pod automatically redistributes the fuctions and I can just select "Control both Tones", "Just Tone 1" or "Just Tone 2", but anywhere something like "Pedal 1 for Tone 1" and "Pedal 2 for Tone 2". I've always loved line 6 sounds and the FM4 filter pedal is fantastic, yet the effects in the POD X3 (Live, which is what I've got) just doesn't seem to sound as good no matter how much I tweak. Does anyone else find this? Especially with guitar. I think it's the tracking mainly. The pitch shifter sounds terrible. Are they the same effects as the effects in the FM4? If not, Line 6 it's time to do a software update for the POD X3 with the FM4 effects in if possible. Would be very nice.

So I've been trying to figure out some different setups for the X3 Live..What I want to know is how could I used the X3 for basically just delays, phasers, flange, and thats really it...I would use external stompboxs for distortion and overdrive (ie a TS-9 or Sparkle Drive)...then I would want those tones to come out of my amp (let's say a Vox AC-15)..to be more clear I would want this signal chain: guitar, delays (X3), overdrives, amp....or how could I do guitar overdrives, X3, amp..just some questions about setups hope you can help thanks.

I recently purchased a POD X3 and am running Vista 32 bit. I've been having some problems with its connections to my computer through USB. It works fine without the computer.

I have tried different methods and orders of installation of drivers and software such as Monkey, Pod Farm and Gearbox, but have not been able to make my POD work on the computer.

I installed the drivers and they look to be working. I have version 3.4.3.6 now, I was able to install the newer ones once, but still had the same problem. Now I'm unable to install these new drivers, it fails with the USB driver install.

So, where I am now: in the "Sound" box from the control panel, the POD is designated as the default device and it is working. However, no sound comes out of the POD (or reads out on the screan). For example, the tests produce no sound, and it also doesn't pick up any sound in the computer from my guitar.

Also, it won't communicate with gearbox (Code 8000900C, Midi device timed out waiting for a response). However, It does detect the pod.

Not sure if it's related, but I am also unable to update the flash memory from Monkey. again, something about the MIDI device. Confusing because this device doesn't have MIDI connectors.

So moral of the story is, I've tried everything I could find on the FAQ's and have uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times, but for some reason, the POD will not communicate with the computer.

I fairly recently (within the past year) purchased a POD X3 Live. After only a couple of months of very gentle (bedroom -- not stage) use, the "bank down" button quit working. It clicks, but doesn't register.

I'm a fairly decent tinkerer -- is this a common problem that I can jump in there and fix without voiding any warranties? Or would I be better served trying to get it fixed? What's the warranty cover?

I've downloaded the driver, it shows up in Sonar as my ASIO record and playback master...have the input on my tracks set to channel 3 on the x3 and the output going to the x3. When I hit play the meters kick, and they show the signal going to the x3 but I get nothing in the headphones. Also, I've turned the volume way down on the x3 patch and if I even breathe on the guitar the input meter kicks way into the red.

I would like to thank you all in advance for your time and concern. I have recently purchased a POD X3 Live. I have installed line6 monkey, drivers and all the latest updates along with the firmware.

When I try to use CuBase 4 for recording I cannot get the latency below 15ms which causes a noticeable echo effect. How can I lower the latency under 6ms?

When I try to use Audacity 1.2.6 latency problem does not occur anymore but when I record long audio what I play starts to change after 2mins. The rhythms I play does not match with drum tracks after 2mins. Does anyone have an idea why this can be happening?

I have Dell laptop with an Intel Dual Core centrino processor (T7200 – 2Ghz - 2MB cache) with 2GB of RAM and USB2 connectivity

Now I have a problem to register this gear at line6.com

Though I created an entry with the serialnumber and the date of purchase and I can see it in the list line6 monkey says that the device is not registered yet.

Deleting the entry and creating a new one doesn't help. Monkey says its still unregisterd.

How to connect a POD X3 Live to switch between a SV112 and a Atomic Reactor FR?

Hi guys!

I need help with a new idea I have for my setup (electric guitar and voice) where I want to hook up my POD X3 Live to both a Spider Valve 112 and a Atomic Reactor FR and switch between them. I’ll appreciate your input!

This is what I’m doing currently:

* Electric guitar – Tone 1: I’m using a POD X3 Live connected to a Spider Valve 112 (with Strymon’s SVPre) with the 4 cables method for effects (pre and post). I also like using the modeling section of the X3L from time to time (only preamps, no cab / mic / room sims) by disabling the FX Loop so that I can send the signal to the SV’s Power Amp section.

* Mic – Tone 2: I’m using POD X3 Live connected to a Fender Acoustasonic SFX II into its mic XLR Input. It also has a XLR direct out for going into the PA so I can use the SFX as monitor.

This has been a great setup so far but I’ve always been frustrated with the fact that I can’t take advantage of the cab/mic/room sims on the POD in live situations because all configurations I’ve tried for amplifying patches with those options don’t sound good (at least not as good as what I’ve achieved with them while recording). So I’m flirting with the idea of getting an Atomic Reactor FR amp to amplify electric guitar patches with preamp/cab/mic/room sims through it.

For what I’ve read, the Reactor FR has both an Unbalanced 1/4 Input and a Balanced XLR input. It also has a Balanced XLR “Thru” which serves as an output that replicates the signal going into the Balanced XLR Input so that you can send it directly to a PA (it doesn’t works for the signal going into the 1/4 Input so if I go into that one from the POD then I’ll have to use a mic to amplify the Reactor FR on the PA… But that’s no biggy for me really).

What I’ll like to know is if I can use any of the available outputs left on the POD with my current setup connected, to send the electric guitar signal to the Atomic Reactor FR when I want to amplify patches that have preamp/cab/mic/room sims (this way switching between the SV and the Atomic FR depending on the patch).

New POD X3 Live - presets seem corrupt

When the POD X3 Live came out a year ago, I was one of the first to buy it. Back then, I had issues where in the middle of a live performance, it would simply stop producing audio, so I returned it and stuck with my former setup for the past year. With pedals starting to wear out and amps not getting any lighter, I decided to give the X3 Live another shot. After getting the outputs set up and levels set, I began running through the presets. It appears that I'm getting some digital-sounding noises on most tones that use modulation effects. The firmware was at 1.15 when I got the unit, and through the Mac OS X version of Monkey, I flashed it up to 1.21 and updated to the latest drivers. This did not change the issue.

I've hread that there is a chance I will need to re-flash to 1.0 and then back to 1.21 to resolve this. Is that correct, or am i looking at something else going wrong here?

X3L power input jack loose. need info on disassembly & ordering part

Hi, I got my X3L back in October 2007 (so it's out of warranty) and haven't had any issues up until now. The power input jack has gotten loose, and my unit will shut off if the power cord is not plugged in at just the right angle. The service centers I've talked to want $$$ just to open it up, and won't order a part until they've gotten the thing open. I know what the problem is, I'm no slouch when it comes to soldering, and I don't care to be away from my X3L for a long time, so I'd like to do the job myself. I just need two things:

1. Just some basic info on opening the X3L's case. I don't need a step-by-step illustrated tutorial, just some basic info on what needs to be removed so I can get access. "You will need to take it to an authorized service center" is not an acceptable response as my unit is out of warranty, and this thread (http://line6.com/community/message/65658) provides an example of Line6Miller explaining how to open an X3 Bean. I just need similar guidance for the X3L. Unless of course this is covered under a recall or something.

2. Info on how to order the part that needs to be replaced. Just the power input jack.

Whats the deal with this?

I saw some threads about it but I would like to know what caused since there hasn't been any firmware updates applied to it recently.

I would send it in for repair but it was purchased from Musicians Friend online by a friend.

Buzzing from pickups

A little off topic but it follows on from a previous post...

I previously had complained about a hissing/buzzing sounds through headphones which i thought was the USB, the headphones, the lead, pretty much everything but now i realise the problem is my pickups. I have a Fender Strat and the pickup noise is quite noticable. I am sitting at my computer so theres the usual array of electrical equipment around me. I notice if i spin around 180 degrees and face away from it all the noise is significantly less, although its unworkable given i have to find the sweet spot.

Is there anything i can do? i have standard Fender Mexican pickups - are they rubbish?

Please help me with this doubt!

this never happened using windows XP on THE SAME PC.

POD 2.0 Swell vs. X3 Live "autoswell"

I really liked the "Swell" feature on my POD 2.0; however the "autoswell" on the X3Live doesn't seem to work the same. E.g., when I have both functions (Ramp and Depth) cranked all the way to 100%, and I hit a note, there is no "delay" in the attack, like on POD 2.0, followed by the swell. I really want a "zero to 100%" swell like the 2.0 version. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another setting that needs to be tweaked?

Non-working power adaptor

My name is Robert, and i'm from Wollongong Australia. I recently purchased a brand new Pod X3 off of an american ebay user, which arrived here two days ago. Due to the difference in power supplies between the US and Australia, i bought a 240->120 step-down transformer to be able to use the power adaptor for your product, however, upon plugging it in today, i found that my Pod did not work. I got out an electrical meter, and discovered that there is no voltage coming out of the Pod X3's power adaptor that arrived with the product (the seperate transformer was putting out the correct amount).

My question is two-fold in nature: Firstly, does this non-working adaptor get covered under warranty? If so, how do i claim this warranty? Furthermore, are there Pod power adaptors that are specifically made for the australian 240v power supply?

In case it's of any assistance, my X3's registration number is (21)X3B1S5931002196.

Hello whenever i plug my pod x3 live into my amps fx loop like you would any fx pedal , the only way i can controll my amps volume is with the pod's fx loop send level , i must be doing something wrong , im also pluging into my pods guit input , its like the fx loop bypases my amps volume , i wanted to use the pod just like any other fx pedal through my amp so i can combine my amps distortion and reverb with the pod without the horrible noise of the pods reverb before the amps distortion , hope i make sense , but i cant change my amps volume unless i use the fx send on my pod . Ive heard of the 4 cable method , but can i use the pod the same as i would a distortion pedal or delay pedal without that crunchy delay before amp distortion sound , sorry for the long question . I have a Vox valvetronix 2x12 100Watt combo .

Interface error with POD X3 Live

Hi, I purchased my POD X3 Live from ebay about three months ago.

Since I didn't have much time to practice (finishing my master's thesis) I kept it inside the box for a while.

Few days ago, I realised that there is some problem with my POD X3 interface.

As I play the through my POD, it kept loading the 'amp+cab' menu even when I haven't touched any of the buttons.

More irritating thing is that it would change the drive level automatically so the tone and the volume changes massively during play.

I thought that this may be due to some problem with the interface installed on my POD X3 Live.

Is there any way to reset this? (not just the patches but the interface as well).

The fact that the 'amp+cab' menu suddenly appearing when I am changing parameters on other effects (stomp, compressor, modulation, delay etc)

means that the amp parameters are varied when I am trying to change effect parameters.

This has been bothering me for the past few days. Could you tell me how I can solve this problem?

I owned a PODxt live pedal and was very happy with it and all the software that came with it. decided to upgrade to a POD X3 Live pedal back in february and am very happy with the pedal itself but cant seem to get it to do anything with my computer. Tried to get riffworks to work with it a few months back and had no success it kept sayin that it either was not registered or not connected which it was both because it is showin up on the site where i registered it and my computer is recognizing that "POD X3 Live is connected". Now i am attempting once again to get all this to work so i can use my favorite software Riffworks for recording but now even Line 6 Monkey is showing that it is not connected even tho i am signed in and everything is obviously plugged in correctly or my computer would not recognize it. PLEASE HELP. I am very pleased with everything Line 6 has to offer but i paid over $400 for this and believe i should be able to use all the Perks that come with it. Please Help!!! Hello! I`m a user of your Line6 Pod X3 Pro Guitar Recording Interface. At the moment i use Windows 7 64bit and Pod X3 Pro like soundcard. So i`ve noticed constant problem witn driver Line6 when i play video or audio in period of 2 hours there is always apeared a Blue Death Screen with an error talking about your POD X3 64bit component. It`s a rather unpleasant thing aspeacially in the middle of recording session. Pleace if you can investigate this problem it will help a lot, because i`m not the only one user with this problem.

Trying to acoustic record via USB into Sonar. Want to record the Stereo Mix on one track and the Dry Tone 1&2 on another track.

I can't seem to get the X3 output volume via USB correct. Either I get very little signal on the Dry track or totally pin the Stereo Mix track to get a decent dry signal. I like the output setting on the patch I am using for the Stereo Mix and don't want to change them if possible. Any workarounds?

just increase volume for just one input , is it possible ? I currently have POD XT Live and was thinking of

going to the PODX3 and hopefully solving individual volume control for both guitar and vocal with just the PodX3 Live

Little by little, I realise “the most powerfull pedalboard ever” is not so powerfull that I thought...

I gess the harmonizer may be one of the most (or even the most) feature request you received for X3 series.

So, just to avoid your consumers’ waste of time, I’ll make a simple theorical question.

Of course, in the case of a positive response, the company will not be bound to launch any new model.

I’m sure we, X3’s users, almost two years after the release, have the right to know the truth.

In case of a negative answer, you don’t have to explain anything.

So, my question is:

Is the X3L, the way it’s now (78 guitar amps, 28 bass amps, etc., etc.), able to run a decent harmonizer, like you put inside Spider Valve IV, whose effects are based on the X3L’s ones?

Of course Line 6 knows the answer.

Please, be loyal to your loyal customers, just saying yes or no for us.

Once again, it’s just a theorical question!

Like I said, no other explanation is needed and you obviously will not be bound to any type of release (paid or for free).

Hi all good people here!!

I use my PODx§Live with the Atomic and i'm very satisfied with that setup.

Atomic sound best with POD, if volume will be some higher level as living-room level, on living-room level

it sound not so good (as many tube amps too). I was always with Atomic in my Probe-room and it was all OK.

But now i've moved to another house and i must (and want) to play my POD in my living-room.

The biggest problem are my neighbors-they can't "tolerate" that volume (as i play through Atomic).

(Many of us,sure know that issue,he-he...)

And i think now about 5w Tube-Combo,that will give me best sound (in sonar sense) on the quiest Volume,

i mean really pretty leise.Anyone have the expirienses with 5w Tube-Combos in that matter???

I was reading many Tests-Opinions on Internet about differents 5w Tube Combos(Blackstar,LittleGiant and co.),but they all don't mention that aspect,

what is important to me.

If anyone can help me and can share the expirienses about good sounding (on living-room level) 5w Tube Combo,

it would be very appreciated!!! I cant' move to another house just now, and my neighbors are very nervous already (me too...:-)

POD X3 Live and Riffworks T4 Question

I recently purchased my POD X3 Live and have been trying out Riffworks T4. I am beginning to get used to it and dont have much trouble recording and playing back when using a guitar only using 1/4" outs. My problem is:

1. When i plug my Mic into the X3 to layer vocals over my previosly created song i cannot hear anything but the vocals, no instruments/Verse, Chorus can be heard that i am trying to layer over. Does the X3 change inputs/outputs when the Mic is recognized? Also, My mic sounds good coming thru my amp when recording, but the few times i have got it to playback from riffworks it is a very low deep tone, how do i adjust the RECORDED effects before mixing?

I fully intend on purchasing riffworks but want to make sure i like it with the Free T4 version first.

I was wandering, now that Line 6 have got the M13 and M9 responding to MIDI clock could they do the same for the POD series? I run a POD X3 Live into an M13 and have a MIDI cable from my drummers drum machine, and I want to plug the MIDI into the POD giving it MIDI clock, then plug the POD (via MIDI) into the M13 so that the M13 can get the clock as well. Line 6 please update the software on the X3 Live.

Also, does anyone know if the POD X3 Live can transmit MIDI soft thru (a merge of MIDI out and MIDI thru) so that my M13 can receive MIDI data from the drum machine and from the POD X3? Cheers.

X3 Live Wah Pedal Question

If I understood my X3 Live User Guide correctly, when I use any of the wah effects on my X3 Live, I should be able to turn the wah on and off by moving the expression pedal "hard" all the way up. This does not work. Also, I can't seem to get the full range of the effect..meaning that if I look at the screen while depressing the pedal back and forth I go from 0 to 31 but that's it.

I'm thinking perhaps I need to calibrate the pedal but I'm not sure how.

So can anyone tell me how do I turn the wah on and off and how do I set the pedal to allow for the desired "sweep"?

It seems I've tried everything to get a tone (created/edited in GearBox) loaded into the Line 6 Amp (in Phead's Record) and all I ever get is "Unsupported Format".

After hours of frustration and experimentation I have come to the conclusion that:

1. Record doesn't support DUAL tone patches.

2. GearBox saves single tone patches as DUAL tone patches no matter what I try.

So here's my question: In GearBox, how can I save a single tone (tone 1 for example) as a true single tone patch (file) so that I can actually use it in Record?

I have POD X3 live, and use tones from self creation and tones downloaded from customtone library.

I have this problem, not all tones using bender work in my pod x3 live with expression pedal. ( bender is on and expression pedal is active)

Some of them work but some of them don't, and if I create a tone by myself using bender it never works.

I forget what files that work and which don't.

Could you please help, probably I miss something?

However – do most of you guys do that, or do you use a higher quality interface such as an Apogee Duet (and connect the X3 to the Duet via ¼” cables)? Just looking for a little advise. Can't decide between the 2 models. It seems like the Live (floor version) is about $100 more.

- Does the X3 have all the sames features and connections as the X3 Live. I went to the Compare products on the website and it was not clear to me?

Will be using mainly for home use with the occasional gigging. I noticed that the X3 comes with optional external foot switches and even a bracket to attach it to your mic stand. Is the X3 rugged enough to be taking out on gigs? Seems to be a lot of plastic on the desktop X3.

Any thoughts?

Anyone here using the x3 with Sonar??? I've successfully used the program for some time with an M-Audio USB device, so I know my way around the program. Using the USB connection on the x3, I don't get any audio back through the headphones, and the output keeps the meters completely in the red if I even breathe on the guitar strings. I'm going to have to assume that I have a defective USB port on my X3. That being said, the amp models sound amazing using the 1/4" outputs into my M-Audio usb device, then into the computer. That alone is worth the price of the unit. But....sure would like to have the capabilities working.

Hey, guys.

I've been doing some research since I want to improve my tone - as we always do. So this is for the ones who like to rock with a 4x12 cabinet and a loud volume: which power amp do you use? Or do you use a head instead? Going through the effects loop return maybe? You get the point. Thinking you need to play LOUD without a PA.

I know there are some similar discussions but I didn't find any directed to a power amp and cabinet setup. I just want to know what you use to get your best results.

Currently I'm running my POD x3 through the power section of a Fender MH-500 head with a matching Fender MH-412 loaded with four 100watt Celestions. This amp is pretty controversial (as I have read on some other forums) but it is surely clean and with LOTS of headroom to work with.

So...what about you???

I just updated my firmware to the latest version. Fixed an issue where I couldn't toggle between Tone1 and Tone2. But now I have new problems.

When editing, I've found that sometimes when I click stompbox (or engage the Wah, or mod, or delay) the Tone2 light turns off and the display shows black bar on top line and still shows Tone2 name. So I see the name for Tone2, but it seems I might be actually in Tone1 (or neither). Where the name for Tone1 would be, it's just all blacked out.

At that point engaging or disengaging any of the effects (stompbox/mod/delay) doesn't seem to do anything. I have to either switch to another patch, or toggle Tone1/Tone2 back and forth to get back.

It's getting very frustrating when trying to edit patches because of this glitch. It did not used to do this before the update.

It's also begun to change screens sometimes while I'm editing. I read in another post a suggestion to move all pots and park them, which is good advice for minor corrosion and buildup on the pots. But I didn't have this problem at all before the update, and now it's happening a lot.

I'm afraid that it seems I've traded one problem for two other problems.

Any help, or ideas, or ways to fix these problems?

Heya folks. in 07/27/09 i bought a preowned Line6 Pod X3 Live (the floorpod) and i couldn't register that. I contacted the support which helped me out. Although now my computer crashed --> and all programs were lost i returned my pc (its a laptop with Vista Ultimate and can handle gearbox very well) but now when i installed the gearbox and line 6 monkey i can't download the drivers since line 6 monkey says it appears you have not registered your pod x3 how is that and how can i like "re-register " this??

Hey, I hope I can ask this question here, it's not a problem but more a setup sorta thing.

Is it possible with an X3 Live to have a delay on a volume swell keep trailing even though the pedal is heeled back after the swell?

When doing volume swells with delay and you pull your heel back, the tone and the delay both cut in volume (of course).

Can you have the sound of the tone that gets cut on say, tone 1 and have a delay on tone 2 that doesn't cut in volume, it keeps ringing?

I hope i've worded that ok...... now do we have the technology?

POD X3 unable to install in VISTA 32

When I'm trying to install my POD X3 on VISTA 32 the computer can't find a valid driver, altough the computer recognizes the POD when I plug him in in the USB port. (I managed to install the POD X3 on the XP operating system though) I uninstalled all the other USB audio and music devices (TASACM US114, Behringer BFC2000, Novation X-station, which installed on VISTA without any problem by the way), but that didn't make any difference. I also tried all the different versions of the VISTA driver, but the computer can't find any valid driver. who can help me?

I've just started using the 4CM with my Laney VH100R and in general it works great - the only thing I've noticed is that it seems to drive the amp harder than just an instrument straight in - I'm guessing the X3 send is line level, yeah?

Anyone have an idea about what you should set the send level at to be the same as a regular instrument level? I hope that makes sense. I've read that it's about 40db of difference but that sounds like a lot!

I would sit and play with it and figure it out, but my amp is at our practice room so I can't test it myself right now...

Pod X3 Live - No Input to GarageBand via USB

Ok, so I just purchased an X3 Live. It works fine when connecting it to my amp or with headphones. My problem is that when I try and use it with GarageBand as the Audio Input via USB, I get no signal. I can hear it fine with headphones connected but the input levels show nothing. I have installed all the latest software/drivers via Monkey and the device is selectable from all the system/application level places I would expect. GearBox works fine. It seems for some reason, I'm not getting sound out of the USB connection. (Yes it is connected to a USB 2.0 Port). I have tried setting the Audio Inputs/Outputs in every imaginable configuration with no luck. See screens below:

The only thing that seems odd to me is that both the Audio Midi Setup and GarageBand show the recording level at it's lowest setting and is not adjustable. I'm assuming this is because it is using Line In when connecting to USB.

But the guy at my shop says the Line6 tech guy has told him that the "FBV is only compatible with the Vetta and is not compatible with the Pod X3 Pro".

Has there been some misunderstanding somewhere along the communication chain or am I just incredibly stupid and illiterate?

Please, please give me a reply asap and lay my mind to rest.

HI,

looking for advice. I have Variax 700 acoustic (but nothing else from Line 6), a Yahama APX 4A Electro Acoustic, plus a Mexican Fender Strat.

I currently use my old Boss ME-8 multi-effects pedal for the latter two guitars, though I also have a Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth which I use with the Fender.

Also have a Roland Fantom G7 Synth & have just purchased an electro-autoharp - bit of a gadget freak eh?

I have a go at playing all sorts of music including blues, rock, ballads, folk, reggae, and more recently some experiments with 'World Music'.

I'm contemplating upgrading my multi-effects pedal & it's the POD X3 Live or the Boss G-10 that interest me.

Would the POD X3 Live allow me to change the tuning on my Variax 700 acoustic?

Any sensible comments would be welcome.

Anyone have an issue like this? I make a tone I like on my X3 and connect the thing to the computer, open Gearbox and in the Hardware Memory screen when I try and select it, the F*in name and settings changes??? Things turn red, nothing saves right??? Help???

HI, I got my Pod X3 Pro a few months back and whenever I tried a high gain setting I got a really annoyingly loud, high-pitched beeping sound. I hoped I was just doing something stupid that I would figure out along the way but I still haven't found a solution. POD X3 Live and POD Farm plug in not recognizing

I just bought the POD X3 Live, installed everything including the online POD farm plug-in but when I go to the stand alone POD Farm plug-in, it states that no Line 6 device is connected and when POD Farm opens as it does anyway, I go to preferences and "hardware" to try and select POD X3 Live, there is none listed. Seemingly everything else but not X3 Live. Obviously POD Farm is supposed to work with X3 Live as it states so really big on the front of the box. I've activated it and everything too. I did have the UX2 installed with POD Farm on the same PC but I gave it to a friend and unregistered it from my account. I even deinstalled that version of POD farm. I just don't get it. Any help would be great.

hi i have a 5150 that i have been using as a power amp for the last two years , i was using a regular cable 1/4 inch i believe, today what i did was i connected the direct out of my x3 live to my amp in the effects loop and wow the sound is crispy, clear, excellent what i was looking for, but i cant control the volume, i want to know if is ok to do this type of connection and if it is how can i control de volume for some reason it seem to bypass the volume control from my pod

I can't tell if I have a hardware (flaky button, twisty know, button) or soft/firm-ware issue. I *seems* to have appeared after a recent fw update, but can't be positive of that.

Symptoms:

Pressing BANK DOWN (bottom left footswitch button) should scroll to the next numbered sequence ( i.e. 21A --> 22A, etc). Nothing happens when I press it, as if the button is disabled (broken)

Patch shows on LCD screen, then flashes over to AMP/CAB page and 'virtual' knobs start spinning, as if possessed by a demonic MIDI controller (there are none, unless we have gone wireless and I missed the memo)

When it gets to *some* semblence of stablized...I might click the STOMP to engage the distortion. Double-tap to edit, takes me back to AMP/CAB screen again. Pressing RT-Arrow (on circle button) will take me back to Distortion page, but unless I immediately spin the selection dial, it falls back to the AMP/CAB screen. Buttons seem to only marginally function.

Is there a 'blow away the entire thing and set it back to the OLD OLD original factory settings, *inlcuding* old firmware, so that I can better pinpoint if this is a programmatic problem, or a physical hardware problem?

I have a gig tonight (Tuesday the 14th of April) If I can reset to factory -- if you think that will help -- I can get my patches rebuilt -- I've saved them all to my pc.

Hissing through USB

Hi all,

I always assumed the awful hissing i was getting from my X3 was because of my headphones but recently i recorded with Adobe Audition for the first time without headphones and noticed the hiss still exists - the headphones were unplugged from the POD.

I doubt its my guitar cable, and the POD is connected directly to the PC via the USB, theres nothing else involved.

It doesnt matter which tone i use either, the hiss is always there through headphones and through USB.

So whats happening?

Hi my name is Michael, I just bought a Line 6 Pod X3 Live One week ago. I was playing my guitar, then I plug a MP3Player in. The volume was low, so I searched something to turn the volume louder and I accidentally turned some button and Now everything sounds really low. I looked for some answer in the manual, but i didnt get a clear response. (It is Not de Master Volume) I Dont know what to do. Is there any command to reset all the preferences? I think the best thing to do it’s to set up as default as. I hope not to erase any effect that comes with the pod.

Traté de subirle el volumen pero accidentalmente moví uan de la perillas de MultiFuncion q hizo q el sonido del POD suene muy muy bajo. No fue un efecto en especial y tampoco es por el volúmen principal del Pedal (que sería lo más obvio) No se que hacer. Hay alguna manera de reiniciar las configuraciones del pedal de tal forma de dejarlo como nuevo. gracias.

Prob with headphone-out on my X3

I just noticed this weird thing on my X3 (bean).

Up until now, I've only been using it with my PC over the stereo analog outputs or S/Pdif out with no probs whatsoever.

Today for the first time (since 2 years), I plugged some headphones into the headphone out and noticed that's there's a huge delay on the headphone output: you play something on the guitar and it takes close to a second to be heard on the headphones.

Nomatter what patch I use, mine or Line6's preinstalled, there's always a delay.

It works fine with no delay when using the line outs or digital out, the delay only occurs with the headphone out.

Btw, it's not the headphones... they work fine with anything else.

I just tried reflashing the current firmware... same results.

What gives?

X3 or Gearbox Printout of Patches - Will It Do this?

Is there a way to get a printout from all of your patches (including all the settings within the patches, like what amp is used, what stopbox is used, etc.) out of Gearbox?

Today I am creating a list of all of the patches in both of our band's X3 Lives for our guitar players. I am looking at this thing and thinking, man... this is a freaking database, surely there is some way to get this data out of this thing onto a piece of paper or spreadsheet rather than having type it.

Anyone know how to do this?????

I keep coming back to my PODs for another listen, but I still hear the same things that bothered me years ago I will try to describe what I hear: It seems unnaturally fizzy from top to bottom - the fizz seems attached with digital super-glue and is always there. There is also some kind of disconnect between the player's dynamics and what comes out the other end. Some might say I use too much gain but I don't notice this as obviously with other software. The Cab modeling was very good when first released (many years ago), but now sounds rather 'choked' and one-dimensional to my ears when compared to the current software competition - once again, unnatural fizziness seems to infest a lot of the Cab selections.

PS: When I refer to unnatural fizz, it is not just the amount of it, but nature (or non-tube-nature) of it.

I have a habit of occasionally going back to my older modelers to see if I can coax something new out of them - to see if there's some gold I can yet find - and sometimes, I am pleasantly surprised (the Boss GS-10 being an excellent example). For me the current L6 modeling algos are showing their considerable age. I actually find it easier to get good tones with 'Amp Designer', the new modeling plug-in that comes free with Logic 9 - go figure....

I recently bought a POD X3 specifically for the job of enhancing the Line 6 amp devices in Propellerhead Record. Various documents state that a free version of POD Farm can be downloaded if you own a Line 6 hardware device and that this can be used to create presets for the Line 6 units in Record. I managed to download POD Farm but I never got it to recognize my POD X3. Since then I have upgraded to Windows 7 and have lost the setup file.

Now when I visit Line 6 website there no longer seems to be a free version of Pod Farm to download.

This is all getting very complicated so please would someone from Line 6 post a step by step guide of how to use Line 6 hardware with Record and what we can expect to do with the Hardware and the various versions of the Pod Farm Software, (protected and not protected) and would it be possible for both Line 6 and the partners that they licensed their technology to i.e. Propellerhead to get their heads together and create a straightforward advertising policy so when we buy these products then we know what can be done with them?

Can X3 live control Pod farm vst in Cubase 5?

Can i control pod farm vst with my x3 live? what i want to do is record my guitar dry with a spdif connection from x3 live thru a tascam fw1082 (it has lower latency than the x3 and multi inputs) but monitor my effected sound while recording. Obviously i can do this by clicking the monitor on my audio channel in cubase. So far so good... however i would like to be able to use the x3 live foot controller to toggle effects and use expression pedal for wah etc in pod farm vst. Previous to buying x3 live, i was able to record my guitar dry but use gr3 plugin for monitoring effect whilst recording. I also have a m-audio expression pedal that i could assign via midi to control my wah etc but was never able to turn effects on or off like this. Basically i was hoping the x3 live and pod farm vst would be a much more sofisticated way of configuring my previously very crude guitar recording setup! I have already found that connecting the midi out from my x3 live, i can control effects in gr3 via midi learn, but so far have not been able to control anything in pod farm vst!! am i missing something or is this not possible? I've tried with both the usb connection and midi connection.

My rig if it's important, is a shuttle sx48p2 deluxe, intel quad 3gz processor, 8gb ram, 2 x tb hd's, tascam fw 1082, m-audio axiom49, windows 7 64bit, Cubase 5, Komplete 5 and of course my new x3 live.

Why Would Parts Be On Backorder For Such A New Product?

Why would parts be on backorder for the Pod X3 Live? Isn't it one of your newer products?

If you're going to make the little plastic holders for each button bear so much weight then why wouldn't you have pre-made a million of them for when they start breaking off left and right?

Or maybe you did and there was just such a high demand for replacements that you ran out?

The casing of the Pod is made strong and the buttons are a heavy aluminum but when it's opened up, there's nothing but thin plastic holding it together.

This thin plastic not only has to bear the weight of the heavy aluminum buttons but also the constant weight of ones foot (which I thought was the point of your product) and on top of all this, the plastic is clipped into the circuit board to add even more weight for the thin plastic to bear.

I don't know why you wouldn't of just opted for aluminum pieces instead. The few pennies added to the cost of each Pod would of made it worth it... but that's besides the point! The point is my Pod has been in the shop (under warranty) for some time now because these little plastic parts are on backorder.

On it's way to a month and maybe longer, I would like to know when these parts will be available on such a new product?

POD X3 MIDI timed out messages 8000900C and 80007211

I purchased a POD X3 as a present for my wife earlier this month and she has been happily using it since. On Saturday I updated it to the latest flash (1.21) using Line 6 Monkey which was successful, backed it up using Monkey, and used Gearbox to look at the presets.

However, today I have tried to connect Gearbox and I keep getting an 8000900C MIDI timed out message. So I started up Monkey and saw that the flash revision was "unknown" so I attempted to reflash it and got an 80007211 MIDI timed out message. I have then spent far too long trying to debug the problem.

So far I have tried Monkey and Gearbox:

- with and without the FBV connected

- with and without the POD in "Safe Mode"

- using all the different USB ports (4 of them) on my laptop running XP

- tried a different laptop running Vista

and *all* of these fail with the same messages. Yet it used to work or else I would not have been able to upgrade it to the 1.21 flash release.

What now? I *really* don't want to have to tell my wife that it has to go to the service centre when she has only just got it!

J'ai cru comprendre qu'il était possible de brancher le POD sur un PC via le port USB d'un PC et de s'écouter via les enceintes PC, voire de s'enregistrer. J'ai suivi à la lettre le mode opératoire, mon POD a été mis à jour, il est détecté sur Monkey, mais voilà rien sur mes enceintes PC lorsque je gratte les cordes. Où je me suis planté, qu'est-ce que j'ai oublié de faire, faut-il relier la sortie casque du POD X3, à l'entrée micro de ma carte son ? Merci d'avance pour votre aide.

X3 Live Footswitch Lifetime Warranty?

I've just sent my Pod X3 Live to my dealer for the USB Drop Out issue and for the footswitch, however I'm told that I might need to pay as it is no longer under the 1 year warranty.

Now hold on, I just read that the footswitch for the older batch of Pod X3's were covered under lifetime warranty.

However I was told that by my dealer that their line 6 products have a default 1 year warranty, and this issue is still being worked out. So which side am I to believe, I don't want to be paying for something that I do not have too.

Footswitches breaking down just after a year? And now it seems like this is in a grey area.

There is no public document we can show to prove to you that they are covered, but when you take the X3 Live to them, tell them to go over Technical Bulletin #44 for the X3 Live footswitch light pipe replacement in the service manual. These tech bulletin repairs are considered warranty repairs even after 1 year.

So we are to tell our dealers that it is under warranty, I've told them so and even reffered them to that thread, and all I get was:

However, the matter concerning the switches is still being worked out with Line 6. Switches have usually a standard one year local warranty and not a lifetime one.

So someone please englighten me on this issue.

I'm having a problem with my new POD X3 Live. I had a POD XT Live and I loved, so I decided to buy the Line 6 top line pedalboard. But I'm desapointed.

The software works painful. First: POD Farm doesn't work. It does not recognize my X3: "Non authorized device connected...." Second: When POD X3 become a windows audio device, the master volume (for recording and playback) does not work. Just work the "Wave" channell. There are so many other things, like, in gearbox, when you move the wah pedal, it does not refresh the actual position knob in screen, when you turn up the POD and the amp, if the amp is connected and the amp volume is set a little high, you can hear a very loud peak noise that could probabily damage the speaker. And how can the Windows sound output to the amp (as podxt) and NOT to the phone out?

Please, is that an isolated problem or more people are suffering with this too?

Someone knows how to fix all of this?

HI there, I've just bought POD X3 Live but I think there might be a problem with it. Whenever I'm saving a new tone in a bank e.g. A, I get an asterisk in the panel. Then, I change to bank B

play with it and then return to bank A. But when I do that there is a gap in the sound...for a moment there is a lower sound and then it loads the sound I saved. Sometime it's ok but then it

Request for added Feature

I play for a worship team on Sundays, The songs and sounds change every week. I have perfected about 12 clean and dirty sounds that I use every week. But I have problems switching if the clean sound for the beginning of the song is 22A and the lead or rock sound is on 23D , there is no single switch . I have to switch BANK then SELECT ABC or D , and then switch back. Not that easy during a live set. For now I have started saving patches to other places to get around that issue .

The line 6 stomp box modeler can create "scenes" and then step thru those scenes in order that there are programmed, I think this would be a great feature to add to the POD X3 Live .

If I am missing something Please let me know as I am Line 6 newbee

EX-1 Pedal Substitute

Been looking to add an expressionpedal for my X3 Live. But not interested in the EX-1, too scared the plastic pedal will break. Is there a substitute I could use?

And last but not least......Harmonizer / Pitch Shift????? What is the deal? Can't Line 6 just write firmware to support that? You would think for $500.00 bucks it would include that.

I'm packing up getting ready for a show and I was throwing my (cheap) Digitech effects and modeling pedal into my case and thought how much I wanted to be using the insanely expensive POD X3 Live for these gigs! The unit that I'm now married to because I waited too long to return it now serves only as an interface between my guitars, basses and mics and my Apogee Duet. I don't use the POD X3 live as a recording interface because the Apogee sounds leaps and bounds better. After lots of dialing I've found some amazing sounds on the POD X3 Live. I can't get the thing to sound good from a mono connection between my bass and my MarkBass Amplifier ("In Front" of or otherwise), I've tried near everything and even the sound I dialed in great on my computer sounds muddy and flat with the amplification. I'm not about to go buy a new amplifier hoping it will fix the issue. My amp sounds amazing, my bass sounds good, the Digitech pedal works and sounds OK! Line6 seriously needs to make an update for the POD X3 Live. I'd like a good (even a decent) Bass Wha. It'd be cool if Gearbox and POD Farm were all neatly wrapped together as the same application that worked well! Fix it! I want to use and love this thing! ADVICE PLEASE???

Line 6 would be very wise to make manuals for the specific hardware and software purchased. I don't need to know about all the hardware they make. I think it's fully capable of what I need to accomplish? I want to know that it works, how it works, that there's good customer support and it's going to be around for a while. Then I feel good about the choice I made. Am I making any sense? I tend to drone on sometimes... Line 6, I think you scatterbrain your customers a little. Get things updated, more concise and simplified from a new user standpoint and you'll lock this market.

I have installed and successfully activated the POD farm software. Software tells me that there are not any devices connected even though POD X3 live is connected. Am I not supposed to use them together?

IF not why are they giving it free with POD X3 live? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with my confusion.

How can I sync Pod X3's tempo based fx to Cubase

This is something I want to do for a while with my POD X3 and I cannot find a way.

I want to be able to sync the tempo based effects like BIAS tremolo, delays etc to the tempo of Cubase 5 so that it follows Cubase's clock. Right now, even if I have the correct tempo dialed in, Pod X3 is out of sync all the time.

This makes a lot of the pathces useles for serious recording.

Is there any way I can sync it to a DAW?

I am using Cubase 5 and have my POD X3 connected via SPDIF to my RME Multiface II audio interface.

Does ANYBODY have any news on when drivers will be coming out for windows 7 for X3 Live? I have to suffer through my computer BSODing 2-3 times a day, which, as i'm sure people can figure out, gets annoying REALLY FAST. Pod Farm Freezes in Cubase SX 3 (POD X3 Live)

Hey Guys,

Pod is working in Cubase and doesn't freeze all together, but I intermittently can't seem to access the settings. Page starts to open but controls are frozen, or a blank framed page appears.

XP sp3 (no apps running in backround incl. anti-virus, modem, and wireless controller)

CPU not overloaded, small project.

7 instances of POD Farm open as inserts, but have shut off all but one.

Monkey says everything is fine.

Tried turning off and back on again.

USB connected direct (no hub)

I seem to have a signal input via the pod to my mac and logic seems to have a signal coming through however....

The audio from the pod only seems to come through when logics audio/ device is selected to x3 live - however neither the instrument being played or the current loops on the board come through the speakers/ monitor/ headphones.

However when i change this to the built in input i find that anything recorded in the above has come through and recorded fine and plays back perfectly.

I just want to be able to hear what i'm playing and recording too as without having to change settings every time - any advice please?

Out of nowhere my X3 went silent. It boots up fine. Has all my patches fine. And I even get the little pop when it turns on if any of the outputs are hot. Just zero sound no matter what instrumnet is used.

And interestingly I tried to update the Flash Memory to see if that would help and it looks like I'm getting a read error: (Code 80000900C) MIDI device timed out waiting for a response.

My pod has barely left the office desk and I only use it about once a week. Not like it's been banged around.

Any thoughts?

I'm just posting this to vent my anger over American Musical losing my reparied X3 Live. Tell me what you think....... here's the email traffic.

That's great....... I gave you guys the R.A number, the serial number and forwarded the email traffic. Which tells me it's now lost........... I'm now out of a X3 Live. Thank you very much. I now know the extended warranty from AMS is worth nothing when someone's product gets lost after being repaired. Just forget about it. I will now order from another online retailer. I have contacted Line 6 to keep an eye on that serial number just incase that item has been resold and someone is trying to register that X3 Live.................... POD X3 Pro direct outs using variax

Hi,

I'd like to record a direct signal, while hearing the processed signal, so I can tweak any FX later.

The direct outs don't appear to work with the variax connected via an ethernet cable. I can use an additional standard 1/4" connector, but would prefer not to have 2 cables connected to the variax (supplying the power via the ethernet is very handy and reduces the triping hazards!)

Is there anywhere in the menus I can re-route the variax direct signal to the 1/4" direct outs?

noisy headphone jack?

I was wondering if anyone has replaced a noisy headphone jack on a Pod X3. I've noticed there is a considerable amount of noise (white noise?) when my headphone are plugged in. I've tried various guitars and headphones and the noise is there. It's there even when my PC is off. I have 2 Ebtech Hum X Voltage Hum Filter plugged into both outlets and it's still noisy. I like to use headphones at night so I don't disturb the household.

What can I do?

Hi,

I have had my POD X3 (bean) now about 5 days and it has worked ok as a stand-alone guitar multi-effect and as a USB-sound-card with my DAWs/media players (Ableton Live 6.0 via ASIO, Audacity / Winamp as "normal" Windows audio device).

Until today. POD X3 still works ok as stand-alone device (I can put guitar input and receive signal for example for the headphones), but the playing and recording via USB does not work: When playback (or recording) starts from DAW, Audacity or Winamp the player just get stuck just like it was waiting something... and yes, when I use my laptop internal soundcard, these applications work perfectly.

Btw, I also tested ASIO4ALL driver and it works when connection to the laptop internal soundcard, but once again with POD X3 applications get stuck. So note that I'm not using ASIO4ALL normally, so it was here now only for testing.

Also: POD Farm worked perfectly before this issue and it actually still works! (I can put DAW to play to laptop internal soundcard at the same time when DAW has track(s) having POD Farm VST plug-in running perfectly and processing the audio in POD X3!) So, the USB connection between laptop and POD X3 seems to be ok on that level, but the audio playback/recording is getting stuck somehow.

Addition at 09/08/20: In addition to ok working POD Farm VST plug-in, the GearBox application works greatly also. So, USB communication should be fine on that level (note that I'm ok able to update firmwares thru USB).

- Laptop has USB 2.0 and I'm not using any USB hubs.

- Rebooting the laptop and/or the POD doesn't help

- I already updated/flased to latest versions when I received the POD X3:

* Drivers 3.4.3.8

* USB Firmware 1.0.2 (updated this also in Safe Mode)

* Flash Memory 1.21 (updated this also in Safe Mode)

* Line 6 Monkey 1.30

- I also tested now older drivers/flash versions (although you cannot rollback USB Firmware 1.0.2, can you? ok ok, why would I want to..)

- Operating system is Windows XP --- it shows "Line 6 POD X3" as a sound device

- I also tested with an another laptop having Windows Vista --- it doesn't even show the "Line 6 POD X3" device.. (?) Addition at 09/08/20: The POD X3 ASIO is visible in Windows Vista, but using that makes the DAW (in the case of Vista laptop I quick installed Kristal DAW with ASIO) get stuck, so the symptom is more or less the same than on the Windows XP laptop.

So, what to do? Is this known problem? Is there new USB Firmware coming soon, is there something to test still or have I just missed some trivial stuff here..?

Windows 7: Constant BSOD

Ubuntu: No support whatsoever. I'd be happy if I could simply playback sound.

Hi , im marco and i just buy from a guy a pod x3 .

I cant register my serial number on the site, ive tried many times but nothing seems to work.

Ive registered the serial (and i dont know how i did) but when i go to delete my reg. it says :

error: 528: There's a service attached to this device

And its not over... ive tried to connect my pod by using an new usb cable (1,5m) to my mac (intel 2.4ghz leopard 2.0usb) and on my Windows Vista but nothing seems to work... mac and pc dosnt see my pod x3...

G'day,

I purchased the Line 6 X3 Live 2 days ago (Serial number: (21) X3L4S5911000321). I followed through the instructions to connect the X3 Live to my Mac G4 (G4 specifications below).

When trying to update the Flash Memory I receive the message - Update failed - Unknown error 800000000 - Check cables and try again. I have checked the cables and restarted the computer and X3 Live numerous times. I have disconnected all USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse. I have also tried connecting the X3 Live to different USB ports - directly to the computer and through the keyboard USB. I still receive the same error message. I have registered the product and gone through all the other updates etc., without issue.

The Line 6 Monkey application - Updates - lists the Flash Memory within the installed column as 'Unknown'. It states that the item is installed however its version could not be determined.

If I open any of my audio software programs, such as Logic Pro 8, it does not list the X3 live device available for selection. It is also not available for selection within the Sound Preferences pane of the Mac (...Choose a device for sound input). However, within the main System Preferences pane it shows under the 'Other' listing the Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices icon. When clicked, the preferences pane shows the following:

Under 'Audio Format', if the 'Run Audio Midi Setup' button is clicked, all inputs and outputs are defaulted to 'Apple Built-in Audio', with no other options available.

Please help. I am eager to get the unit up and running. The ability to record guitar and vocals to my computer through the unit was a major factor in purchasing the X3 Live.

X3 EQ TIPS WHEN CONNECTED TO AMP

Hi, i,ve been reading lots of threads about how eq with x3. I use mine using the 4CM with a marshall jcm combo (1x12) on combo power amp output mode. For the moment i'm getting nice cleans and subtle crunch sounds using my amp's preamp or x3 amp models or combining them. But for some reason all the patches i use for solo and heavy rhythm when recording are useless when playing live no matter how much i try to change the eq. Theyre almost all dual amp tones.

these high gain patches sounds boomy, fizzy, shrill, ear piercing, and like is some kind of blanket aver my amps speaker......cleans are crispier and nice.

I'm not a eq guru (FARRR from that) so please be nice and explain me how could i remedy this, what are the general rules of equing when going into a power amp section.

Just upgraded from XT Live to X3 Live. Was quite disappointed that I couldn't use my XT Presets in the X3. Also, can't download tones from Custom Tone.com like I could with the XT. I did figure out how to store a specific Variax Guitar with a specific Preset but have a couple of questions. Can I store ONE guitar, say a Les Paul in 26A 1, and another guitar, say Acoustic in 26A 2???
Please help.

Hi,

Over the last few years I used a PODXT together wth Gearbox to do all my recording.

Recently I sold both my PODxt (and BODxt) as I wanted to get a new unit that would cover both.

I'm now thinking of getting a PODX3Pro (or the PODX3) but cant figure out what applcaition would be used to control it from the PC (as Geabox did for the PODXT).

I recently got a license for POD Farm to use as a insert in my DAW but cant get on with that very well and am not sure if I like it in this (insert) format. Theres no direct monitoring of effect being applied to the guitar signal before recording. Very strange...

So if I were to get a PODX3, what could I use to control and manage my presets from the PC????

Conflict between Logic Pro and external Device

I am new to both Logic Pro and to Pod x3, so it is not a big suprise that something's not working. Nontheless, things were up and running until I today upgraded:

-drivers

-usb firm ware

-flash memory

-line 6 monkey

-gear box

-Pod Farm

When I try to play a song off Logic it doesn't make a sound. After a few seconds it all stops up and the following message occurs: "Sample rate 41139 recognized. Check conflict between Logic Pro and external device."

I did also try to record a track and for a little while i managed to hear both the backingtrack as well as the guitar track that was being recorded....for a little while until the sound was jumping all over the place.

If anyone could help me out it would be absolutely fantastic!

But I recently started reherasing going to a PA. I switched to Line and all my patches were clipping like hell/digital screeching.

Just wondered... I'm having a hard time finding out the answer... everything I read sounds like I need to use both XLR outs (sends for left and right) to connect to the main house (board) direct. May I use just one of the XLR outs and still get full use of features/sound from my X3 into the house? If so, would I need to adjust a setting in the X3? Thanks for any help!!!

Hi again, I made a question in pod family forum, but this may be the one I need...

My pod x3live works alright with my guitar, bass... but when I connect my mic it doesn't work and I can't use acoustic effects when it comes to the mic part or vocals... and my mic is right because whenever I connect it to my motu 828 card it works and I can sing and record my voice with my cubase program.

Do I have to download any kind of program to enable mic to work?

When I turn my pod on, it asks me to insert a cd to load sth up, but I don't have the cd, it didn't come in the box...

Can anybody help me, please?

Can someone please give me a better understanding on the effects signal chain on the X3 Live....

- The manual does an ok job, but I am confused on what's moveable to post, pre, and where I can put the VOLUME pedal in relation to STOMP, MODULATION, and DELAY - maybe a link to another post or diagram?

- If I run the volume pedal post, is it post to everything else - same with pre?

- Ideally, I like to doing a lot of work with reverbs and delays - getting nice trails and more ambient swells

- For example, if I run VOL post - does it come before the delay,mod, etc if they are also running post?

- I run the X3 direct to FOH - no other pedals or amps

POD X3 connected to SPDIF of Digi Rack 003

Hi,

I am trying to hook up my POD X3 to my Digirack 003 via SPDIF to record in Pro Tools, and I am not getting any output. I have connected a RCA cable to the SPDIF OUT of the POD X3 going to the SPDIF IN on the Digirack. In Pro Tools, when I select SPDIF as my input under I/O of the track, I get nothng while recording.

I am aware it's possible to use POD Farm instead to get the POD X3 sounds via RTAS plugin, but I'd rathr go DI using the physical POD (unless POD Farm really is that much better).

Anyone have suggestions?

As I mentioned, I am using a DigiRack 003, POD X3, and Pro Tools LE 8.

hi i just bought th x3 and i cant switch from tone 1 to 2 it stays in 1 all the time.....only when i press for dual tone is when tone 2 appears but cant use it independently from 1 someone help please!!

I have been using the amazing Pod X3 live pretty much as soon they came out last year in my band Bad Monkey in Leeds UK. I have been using directly into the PA at our gigs and the results have been superb, my guitar always cuts through way better and clearer than the other bands we are sharing a bill with. My recommendation of the unit and just my onstage sound and playing to other bands and audience must have secured a substantial amount of sales.

However, just before I was about the walk on stage at a very important gig at Brudenell Venue in Leeds (the biggest gig we have so far played) home to many gigs in Leeds including the Kaiser Chiefs warm up gigs and many more) My Pod X 3 live totally cut out and started to smoke. I was using the correct supply/lead etc. It's obviously a failure of the power unit to be robust enough or has a fault which may make it not fit for its intended purpose as gigging live guitarist's tool. As I rely on the unit for my guitar sound we had to play very sub standard gig, our live sound is built on strong electric guitar riffs and I use the unit not an amp for that. Basically Line 6 can I have a replacement or a prompt repair please. We have gigs coming up very soon so this needs to be very soon.

ok so I traded my POD xt Live for a POD x3 Live.....I get it home and load a tone into a user patch 32A-tone 1 then save it and it works fine....then I create a sound for patch 32A-tone 2 and save it and every tone 2 in the whole unit is named that and and set as that......and when I switch back and forth it may or may not load the patch right....can anyone tell me what the deal is or more importantly what the fix is.....did I get screwed?? please help I need it to work very badly.....also I just tried to create a patch in 32B and when I finished i switched to another patch and back and it was gone.....what am I doing wrong??

any rumors out there of a successor to the x3?

Would I be able to hook up a Pod X3 Pro to an Apogee Ensemble like so:

Guitar -> Interface -spdif out-> Pod X3 Pro (spdif in)

And then

Pod X3 (spdif out) -> Interface spdif in

So that the Pod would be using the A/D and the D/A stages of the Ensemble and not the Pod?

I have a Pod X3 that I bought 2nd hand but I am trying to find the adapter that works with it.

Will the Pod X3 work with an 220~240V adapter that has 12V, 500 mA minimum?

I was looking under the Power Supply and Amp Power F.A.Q. http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4269

It says... The Stomp Box Modelers will also work under DC (Direct Current) at 12V, 500 mA minimum. The center pin is positive (yes, center pin is positive as opposed to the DC-1 power supply). but I am not sure if that will work for the Pod X3 as well.

Black screen on POD X3 - Ecran noir sur POD X3

Hi Folks,

I just bought a Pod X3.

The Pod doesn't turn on. When I switch it on, the screen lights on but there are only black pixels on the screen. No function can be accessed.

I did install L6 Monkey to update the firmware but the POD isn't even recognized by the computer!

Is there a way to reset the Pod to factory by pressing the buttons only (knowing that I don't see anything on screen!) ?

Second problem with Line 6 gear on the latest 2 purchased... I'm somewhat puzzled by the quality of the brand right now...

L'appareil refuse de s'allumer. En appuyant sur le bouton de mise en fonction, l'écran s'allume et n'affiche que des pixels noirs sur tout l'écran. Aucune fonction n'est accessible.

J'ai installé Line6 Monkey et les pilotes pour mettre à jour le firmware, mais le POD n'est même pas reconnu par l'ordinateur !

Quelle est la marche à suivre pour une réinitialisation complète avant le retour au revendeur ?

Deuxième problème avec Line6 sur les deux derniers achats... Je commence à avoir des doutes...

This is a problem i've been struggling with for a while now, i have a podx3 live, trying to record vocals and acoustic guitar through the pod to logic 8 on my macbook p. Now the problem is (i know, i've found the topic on other boards, but never found a solution) i get extremely low output. Is that normal? or do you bump it up with compression via the daw? i'm confused, because i've tried recording through my behringer dynamic, which produces extremely distorted vocals, and through a condenser (which i plug through an m-audio fast track pro for the phantom power) which still produces ridiculously low db of gain, how do i get the gain up without delving into distorted vocals? i was thinking of getting a small pre amp or maybe something to boost the signal before entering the pod? or would that fry it? help! i' want to use the vocal pres on the pod, but it's just not working out...

Hi! Please give me some recommendations on a good pair of headphones to use with the Pod X3 within the price range 100-200 $

I have been looking at the Sennheiser HD280 but i havn´t tried them. What do you think about those?

I will be using the headphones when i play guitar for many hours (so they should be comfortable) and doing some mixing so the sound should be ratter flat right? because i want them to sound so realistic as possible, i dont want them to color the sound to much.

The only headphones i have tried with my pod is Sennheiser HD201, but they really sucked IMO. To much bass and fizz, and they sounded very hmm narrow. Do expensiver and better headphones sound wider if you now what i mean?

I dont really have the opportunity to try any headphones before i buy them so please give some advices from the jungle of headphones, so i dont buy the pig in the sack

Hi,

Here's my problem... I recently bought a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 (halfstack). So I decided I wanted to use my POD X3 Live only as an effects unit, this way I turn off all amp simulations and only leave on the effects on my presets.

The problem is that even if I turn off every thing in the POD, it still "colors" the sound. I noticed this because I want to use the amp's overdrive, to do this I made a "Bypass" preset with nothing on it (everything is turned off). But it sounds very different when I plug my guitar thru the POD than when I plug it directly to the amp (and not in a good way!!).

I've tweaked almost everything starting from the switch on top of the POD (Amp/Live) to the the System Output (StudioDirect, Stack Front, Stack Power Amp)... I ran out of of things to tweak.

I have one thing to try out... which is connecting the POD to the effects Loop of the amp. I'm not sure how that will sound....

Anyway, does anyone know how I can produce or emulate a true bypass with the POD X3 Live??

Hello all and thanks in advance, I just got the x3 live and was wondering if I can send program change messages to my daw as I read you can with the Pod XT Live... I got a show coming up and I need a usb audio interface/foot controller to control Ableton live... went to the store to get the the XT Live but they only had the X3 Live and I assumed I could use it as it seems you can with the XT... where the pedals on the board send program change messages... I travel a lot to perform and it would be great if I could do this with the X3 since I just got it and would make my life a lot easier.. with the XT it says you'd see virtual midi ports in your daw but I don't see this with the X3... so can I send midi over usb with the X3 or is it only the XT that does this???

Im still not quite satisfied with the tone as my pod keeps killing my spider's tone

even after output changes, EQ changes etc. . . .

I have had an idea. . .

What if. . . .

the spider 3 is set up as usual, however on the floor is a Boss line selecter. In line A, there is a bypass, and on line B, the pod is running in the line selecters loop, so when line B is kicked in, the effects should kick in too any undesired noise or frequencies would be covered by the effects anyways (because of the effects i use) and when not needed, the bypass sound in line A is not coloured by the pod

and when recording, all that needs to be done is remove the pod, and take it to the computer to use.

This is theoretical of course, I have no idea if this will work, however, if anyone else has tried this, or if Line 6 know if this is a good solution (dont wory, i am not endorsing Boss, i am a loyal line 6 fan - use line 6 for pretty much everything) then can anyone let me know.

or if anyone has other ideas for different ways of connecting, then post either on this thread, or thread 1 (in link above)

Cannot Add Tones?

I downloaded Lincoln Brewsters Tone from his website (http://www.lincolnbrewster.com/extras.php) and clicked on the X3 Live Tone download... it gives me a .l6t file.. I plug in my X3 Live (which I've added tones to before, and can add other tones, just not this one.. ) and I open gear box.. and try to drag the l6t file over to the user bank, and it will not go to the bank, I just get a "no" symbol...

can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.. is there something wrong with the files on his site.. or am I doing something wrong? I've reset my x3 live to factory settings, other tones work fine...

Warbing sound on patch "2D Smooth Criminal"

Hi,

I am now on my fourth pod since January last year.

This one is a result of my sending it in for the USB dropout (the previous ones were for: bad Mid tone pot, then bad volume pedal and finally USB dropout).

What I now find is that Patch 2D - Smooth Criminal reliably puts out a warbling sound.

I reported this on an earlier pod in this forum. In between getting different pods, it seems to have gone away, but is back with this one.

I've attached a snipped of the sound.

As far as I can tell, the sound is the same between recurrences.

This occurs with and without a guitar being plugged in.

When I push the footswitch (for 2D), it goes away, only to come back again.

I have done a reflash: in safe mode, regressed to 1.0 and then also in safe mode, flashed up to the latest.

Any thoughts? It's not that I particularly like the patch (although one of my kids does), but more that it should not be happening at all.

I am having a problem properly setting up my Pod X3.

I am able to get a good sound with the pod when I have the monitors plugged directly to the pod. However, when it comes time to record, and the monitors are going into the Mbox2 (Pod and Mbox2 connected by a spdif) it is as if someone turned on the "crappy" button. Sounds like the monitors have a blanket over them.

I am recording to a stereo track in PT.

Why would it sound great before I go through the Mbox?

So, out of no where, the volume effect and the wah efect got mashed together. When you use the volume pedal, its a wah (with a slight amount of the volume adjustment present) even when the volume light is on). While looking through the effects set up, it seems everything is right, but i'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!

My POD X3 Live is clipping for no reason!

I have had my POD for a few months now. Last night I got home from work and got right on my POD. Earlier in the day I had created a Where the Streets Have No Name patch and it sounded almost exact. So I went straight over to it and when I played it it sound like someone had turned my drive on the amp emulator to like 150! I used the Matchless D-30 which even when I turned to drive up to 96 (before I went to work) wasn't too muddy sounding. So when I got home that's exactly what it sounded like, SUPER muddy. I also noticed (after restarting it a few times) that the clip light blinks on every time it starts up. Now I don't know if that is supposed to happen but I don't remember it ever doing that. So since it maybe could have been that patch that was messed up or something I switched over to my main patches and sure enough they all sounded a little more distorted than usual AND they were clipping now! I don't what happened! Please Help!

Hello list,

yesterday, while I was recording, after 20 o 30 minutes my pod x3 live stopped recording and playing any audio.

I have to turn on and off the unit in order to make it work again.

I'm using Logic Pro 8 on the last version of 10.5 (can't remember which one is it now).

Fortunately, Logic Pro 8 is very stable, and doesn't care about if your soundcard is switching off, so I can do this even without restarting it.

At the same time, Pod Farm doesn't seems that stable, and sometimes causes the app to crash abruptely. When it doesn't crash, it removes every amp simulation for each instance of podfarm in any track (only the amp sim, very bizzare).

Now some question:

1) Is this the famous Pod X3 Live USB Audio dropout issue? (what a long name )

2) How can I make the hardware fix where I live, in Italy? (Ma porca...)

3) Are there any patch to fix the strange behaviour of Pod Farm?

OK in Riffworks standard when the Pod XT Live is connected it works fine.... (Riffworks does, using hardware mode) When I plug the X3 Live the program works, I see needles move, lights light but no audio? The only difference is the X3. I have all the updated patches, drivers, and everything else that Monkey checks. Any ideas? Oh if I unplug the X3 Live and plug the XT Live back in; it all works.... maybe I have a defective unit with these issues?

I have had my POD X3 for a little over a year now. It has been working great until tonight. I turned on my PC, then My POD X3, and I get a USB Device error. Your Hardware is not functioning properly or something like that. So I decide to plug it into my new Macbook Pro. Same thing. The Line 6 Audio - MIDI devices in the system preferences notes : No line 6 devices connected. Physically it is connected and powered on. In the POD X3 system settings, it states that I have firmware 1.21 and USB firmware 0.0. Obviously not normal. It should read 1.02 as I always update to the latest versions. Could it be that the USB firmware is corrupted? If so, how can I restore it? Unlike the POD XT, the POD X3 does not have any midi in or out, which means I can't send a firmware update through MIDI, if that is even possible.

Please help me get this wonderful product back to full functionality.

ASIO Driver works but is not recognized..

when using my POD X3 with reaper as a plug-in everything works but the ASIO panel shows the driver as inactive. Anyone an idea what might be the problem? When running Reaper with POD Farm the driver should be presented as active and there should be configuration possibilities which I don't have right now. Maybe there are more userse with this problem?

Antoher question: when recording dry tone and then re-amping, how many tracks can I re-amp at one time? I understand that the POD is doing the actual processing, so I imagine that I can re-amp one track at a time with dual tone or two with single tones? Or am I missing something here?

I know when I bought the x3 the sales person really was trying to sell me the m13. I know the m13 is mainly a stomp box modeller, but I just want some feedback on whether I should just stick with the x3 or try the m13. Thanks

I'm a new X3 Live user (switched over from the Boss GT-8 about 2 months ago) and a new forum member. I sought out solutions to my volume pedal problem, which was as follows. When I rocked the pedal back to 0%, the volume dropped out as expected. However, when I removed my foot from the pedal, the volume would jump up to 30 or 40%. When I approached the pedal with my foot, getting within an inch or so, the volume dropped again. I entertained my bandmates with this cool trick, but it was getting to be a nuisance. My unit is used, so I didn't hesistate to crack it open to look for solder joint problems, but everything looked great. I touched up a few joints, but no improvement. I came out here looking for advice and found this thread:

I went back to mine and noticed the foam tube around the stem of the volume pedal was sitting about 1/4" above the surface of the box, shoved up against the pedal. After realizing that the volume pedal works off of an IR LED/Phototransistor circuit, I figured that foam tube was there to shield the circuit from ambient light. So last night, as a test, I went into calibration mode, took a flashlight and shined it around the foam tube area and sure enough the reading went from 0 up to around 15-20, just like before. Then I cracked it open again, pulled the foam tube down through the hole of the box so it now rests on the surface of the PC board surrounding the LED circuit, and it works fine! I assume that's where it should be. What a relief, since I was about to bring it down to a service center today ($$$).

BTW, it appears the volume circuit uses an Optek OP280 and OP580 (www.optekinc.com) pair in case anyone ever needs to replace these parts. I suppose you'd have to contact Optek to find out exactly which version of these since they are not marked (but they are yellow-ish if that helps) and there are several different versions available.

I'm about to buy a backup for my X3Live. I know I probably will have some issues with having it registered to me but there are plenty of posts about that. I'm wondering if there are any other issues with owning 2 of the same unit. Will I have trouble updating them or will software know I have 2 units? Will I be able to copy my sound settings from my main POD to the new one?

I'm assuming this isn't a big deal but I want to know what I'm in for before I buy the second one used.

I've just purchased a POD X3 PRO on the box it says INCLUDE POD FARM PLUGIN. I've downloaded pod farm and when i star it it says at the bottom of the screen NO AUTHORIZED DIVECE CONNECTED. POD FARM CANNOT PROCESS AUDIO. When i log onto the site to download the plugin (buy it now option) i select my device and bring me to a page where it says the following

On my X3 live, I'd like the master volume to affect the 1/4 outs only by default. I can set it from the system menu, but it doesn't stick after a power cycle. I wasn't able to locate a method of saving the system settings. Is it possible to do what I want?

On two occasions mine has gone down, 1st time within 36 hours and had a replacement the 2nd time the shop i purchased it from discovered that the internal fuse had gone. further discussions suggested that it may have been due to a power surge in my home. have purchased a power surge protected socket now and all seems well.

am wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem i`ve owned other line products before and not had a problem there gear is pretty well built and no doubt rigoursly tested.

I've been searching and searching for a nice, reliable hard shell / road case for my POD X3 live. I've seen other threads on here for the same topic, and it looks like others are looking for the same thing I am searching for. I know there is a soft case available - which is NOT what I am looking for. I did find this case, but Guitar Center does not carry it inthe store. According to the dimensions I would initially think the 6" height would be more than plenty to house the X3 live, but then it says the lid depth is only 3" ... and the base platform has a built-in slnt that rises above the bottom lip where the lid mounts (which leads me to believe the rear of the unit would have even less than the 3" lid depth room ... though the pics look like more and I would think they would have allowed more space). Has anyone used this pedal board and do you have any more precise measurements or know if the X3 live will fit?

how would you suggest that i connect my "Line 6 pod X3 live" to the cabinet head for the best sound?

Pod X3 Pro just suddenly couldn't power up!!

Hi everyone, I just bought my Pod X3 Pro last week, and I have encounter this serious problem, wonder anyone else having the same problem.

I bought it on Day 1, everything works fine, used for 2 days, then Day 3, it just couldn't power up, looked like some fuse problem, so I sent back to the shop i bought from, they exchanged a new unit to me.

So this 2nd unit works fine for 1 week, and now the same problem again, it couldn't power up again!!

I am going to send this unit back to the shop again, they said they are going to exchange 1 to 1 to me again.

But the problem is, I already lack of confidence to this product, can any Line6 tech can tell me what happen? Is it just there is a batch that having this problem? Or something else? And who else got the same problem as I do?

Can my X3 Live send Midi Prog Changes to my Keyboard Sound Module?

I understand that the X3 Live will send program changes based on changing patches. Has anyone found a creative way to map that to program changes in other devices? My ultimate goal is to select patch 3 on the X3 Live and have it send Prog Change 44 to my Keyboard Module? Involving a computer onstage is not my first choice.

Creative ideas appreciated

Presets and Tone Problems POD X3 Live

I hope you can help me. I noticed that my X3 Live has an unusual behavior when the preset begins with Tone 2 for example

I'm in patch 32A and I going to change to patch 1A or 3B whatever, which stars with Tone 2. When I made the change to next

bank the preset seems normal but when I push for example delay button the change is made in Tone 1 instead of perform the

change in Tone 2...What is happening?

1) Here I'm in patch 1A with tone 2 as main tone

3) I pressed the button to return to patch 1A

4) I'm back to patch 1A and seems that everything is normal

5) This is a pic of the complete POD that you can see what leds are turn on, until now correspond to Tone 2

6) Now I pushed delay footswitch and you can notice the change in the Tone 2, Stomp and Mod footswitches leds and the "Bold bar" is over Tone 1.

7) Now I pushed Stomp footswitch, so you can see that stomp is ON but Tone 2 is ON too and obviously the sound is coming from Tone 1

8) I pressed the Tone footswitch and the Tone 1 now is "Bold" and check how there is not change in routing map and in the stomp led too

After this the POD come back to work Normal, the problem only appear when changes between banks are performed.

I started to notice this issue after the last flash memory update was installed and obviously I reinstalled it besides I tested rollback the pod to previous flash memory with not succesful.

When Pod is connected to gearbox everything work normal

UPDATE

I noticed another one thing: Presets saved months ago work normal, if the preset is saved again, begin with the unusual behaviour

Gearbox: Crashing Logic Pro 8/No Feedback.

Hi,

I have the Pod x3 Live, and i've been trying to use it with Logic Studio 8.

Every time I open up the plugin for gearbox, the interface shows up and works, the only problem with it is, is that whenever I press play on an audio track, it then results in Logic crashing and saying: Logic has quit unexpectedly. I've tried many different combinations to see what was wrong with it, but I'm still not sure. I've tried playing it with the Pod plugged into the usb, without it plugged it. I've tried saving the effect and reopening logic, but to no avail. No noise comes up. I've reinstalled it already once and the issue still occurs. Oddly, pod farm will work as a plugin just fine, just not gearbox which makes no sense haha. I've also updated my drivers on Monkey, still nothing. If you can give me some advice, that'd be great.

PEDAL DEL VOLUMEN INTEGRADO EN X3 LIVE

Buenas tardes,

Tengo una POD X3 Live y el pedal de volumen que lleva integrado no gradua el volumen de salida ni tampoco gradua el Wah. Si que me deja al apretarlo cambiar entre uno y otro pero no varia nada al subirlo o bajarlo.

Esta actualizado al ultimo firmware y he intentado calibralo y tambien poner los valores de los presets de fabrica y el problema persiste.

Alguna sugerencia?

Pod Farm, X3, and Ableton live

I have an issue where my pod x3 and pod farm are over lapping each other. So basically my distortion from my pod is then over lapping my pod farm plugin and so its super distorted. How do i use the X3 with pod farm? Do i have to do some type of bypass with the pod or something? I am using Ableton Live 7 btw.
