Fractal Audio Axe-Fx...made me sell my X3

Fractal audio is going to cause some competition with line6. My axe-fx blows away the X3 i had. The axe-fx is the most amazing thing i ever used! But why does it sound so much better than anything line6 ever put out?

I only type this because I hope line6 puts out something of the same quality. I like to see healthy competition. I've always been a fan of Line6.

Plus line6 is always affordable. The axe-fx ran me 2k. (IT's so worth the 2k though)

I'm installing mini switches on the front of the amp to access the 4 Push modes for the SVpre. While I have it open, I realized that I have a EH 12AX7 tube sitting around. The same one that came with the SVpre, I'm replacing the V1 preamp tube with it. Also I'm going to replace the LEDs. I'd love to make the faceplace glow purple which is my favorite color, but I think red would look better.

Because I just bought an Axe-Fx. DOH! Well, my tube loss is your tube gain (pun intended). Check this stuff out because with the watchers I have on it right now, it won't last long. These are seriously great sounding amps and effects. It's just that my wife took one look at my guitar room and said "you need to slim down". Okay, slim I will be. Why do people down L6 untill they find out how good they realy are

I play in a Punk/Hardcore band and have played through L6 gear for over 9 years. I bought a L6 spider when they first came out and no one even knew who they were, but everyone was amazed at the sound of this 75 watt 1x12 "monster of tone" and I was in a jam band, then L6 started getting bigger(more people found out what they were missing for the $). The next prodject I started was heavy and I needed a half stack so I bought the spider2 hd150 and a Laney cab from my friend, still before we played everyone wanted to know how the L6 was and they were loving my amp after they heard it, but also saying how hard they found it to get that head to sound good in the store. It just takes some tweaking like any amp.Then in early 2008 I bought the svhd100 and I was amazed( I even bought the head with out even playing through one)and dont get me wrong the L6 is a modeling amp, but it moddels the best amps in the buisness, not exactly but most people will not notice much of a diffrence. now I have recently bought a Bogner Uberschall ( search for the perfect tone) and it is an amazing amp, but my SV HD100 is still a great amp. Basicly what I'm trying to say is L6 is great gear, and not everyone can afford $1600+ for a tube head. And the people who can great, but dont knock theL6 users for tryning to get the tones that only a hand full of people can even purchase. so if you use L6 dont be ashamed be proud that you can get the tones that you need with out breaking the bank. It could be worse, you could be playing through a crate or some other pos!!!

PS next time someone says L6 sucks look at what they are using and listen to there sound, you'll be suprised how good L6 is. listen to the tracks on my bands page and tell me L6 is no good

Soundclips w/ M13, Michael Kelly and Egnater Renegade 65

Finally got around to recording a few things with the new rig. There will be more to come.

This a Michael Kelly Patriot Custom (neck pickup, coil tapped) into the Egnater Renegade 65 watt head (clean channel) using the 4CM with a L6 M13. The head feeds a 1936 Marshall 2x12 with T-75s. Mic'd with an SM58 into a Toneport UX-2 into Reaper. The only post-processing I did was to mess with the levels a bit and added a limiter to squish a couple of high peaks and to slightly boost the volume overall.

The first round of playing is bone dry, no fx or anything. The 2nd set of clips uses the M13 in the loop for a rotary w/ horn and a delay (the digital w/ mod, I believe) and I used the amp's reverb.

The amp is really amazing, by the way. It has two fully independent channels, each of which have the following variables: 18/65 watt switch; a "tight/deep" switch; a "bright/normal" switch; preamp gain; eq (bass, mid, treble); "tube mix" (lets you blend any combination of the amp's 6L6 power amp with the EL34 power amp -- really cool!), master volume and reverb. There is also a shared presence, density, and "main 1" and "main 2" master volume controls. These all work with the included footswitch, which lets you switch channels, turn the fx loop on or off, turn the reverb on or off, and engage the 2nd master volume control. Each of these elements in the footswitch can be assigned to either channel or both. So if you wanted to use reverb on the clean channel but not the od channel, you can assign the footswitch to let you turn the reverb on and off for channel one but not channel two.

So I recorded some other stuff with my strat and hope to be able to post that stuff this evening. Let me know what you think and if you've got stuff you want to hear, let me know.

P.S. no band slagging - everyone is free to leave their settings as long as it comes under the headings. I may make other posts for other types of music when I get more time.

Also, if needed, requests can be entered for anyone who is really struggling for their favourite artists sound.

I'd like anyone who is having issues with pops and clicks with these sepcific processors and our drivers to please post on this thread EXACT computer specs and a concise and detailed recipe of how you are able to reproduce these pops and clicks.

I've been streaming music now on an HP DV9 laptop with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile processor on Vista Home Basic 32 bit now for about an hour without one pop, click or CPU spike. Help me reproduce this so I can help you guys get up and running! Thanks.

The M9 user interface - Line 6 missed the mark

I find that the single LCD on the M9 makes for a very limiting user interface. You've gotta have a damn good memory to essentially memorize what you've placed in any of six slots in six, or even worse 24, different scenes because the M9 does virtually nothing to help you know what's where ("Hmm, is that blue light in the top row of the second slot of scene 4 a flanger or a chorus? And which delay is that green light?" - this is not an easy decision process in the middle of a gig when someone calls a tune, or even in the middle of a song). I like my M9 and I've decided to keep it, but this limitation was almost a deal breaker for me.

To be honest, I think the user interface is a fundamental design flaw of both the M9 and M13. I mean come on, an LCD that displays a small black font on a blue background for crying out loud? Figure that the average player is nearly six feet away from that display or more if you're leaning back or whatever, and it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to realize that it's going to be hard to read. To me, Line 6 has designed a performance-based product that has a UI more suited to desktop use. What other pro-level, floor-based unit has such a tiny and unreadable display?

I think Line 6 should have incorporated either a second, easy to read LED display (too late for that, obviously) or they should somehow configure the existing LCD/LCD's to display a larger font on a lighter backround. Maybe a user-definable scene name that scrolls in the window or something like that. With the M9's single LCD this is particularly important.

Can I get all the Tones at once? You can download all the Tones from the Public Tone Exchange, sorted by product, in this ZIP file. Once downloaded, unzip the file, navigate to the location of the unzipped file using the left list of Line 6 Edit's Tone Locker window, and you'll be able to open any of the Tones that are compatible with your Line 6 device. This file is updated regularly, for the tone junkie who just can never get enough...

Have asked previously and was told to log feature requests which I have done

Recording using POD X3 Live?

I recently bought a POD X3 Live and found about the USB audio drop out problem. So, I need tips on alternative ways to record using a computer, knowing that I use POD Farm Plug-in in Ableton Live. Please keep in mind that I live in Egypt and it will be very difficult to attempt the hardware fix. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

No More Line 6 Products For Me

I bought a kb37 about 18-19 months ago, I mostly use it for gtar/bass stuff but I use the keys sometimes...

Anyway I go to use it on the weekend... low and behold about 8 of the keys no longer function (yes I tried diff usb cables, reinstalling drivers etc etc).

I checked the warranty and d'oh only 12 months.

Ok so I thought great this is a pain in the neck not too mention I was (and still am) pretty angry about the poor life of the product

so I contacted the service centre listed by line6 (im in Australia for those of you who want to know there is only one service centre listed)... luckily for me

its not too far from home...

They then proceed to tell me that they do not deal with any out-of-warranty repairs

(People at line6 if you are going to allow somewhere to be a service centre make sure its a service centre not a sorry-we-dont-do-that centre)

They told me I could try taking the kb37 to some electronics place about 40mins drive away.

Already after this experience I'm almost tempted to forget it and cut my losses and go buy something else, unfortunately I had to fork out 600 bucks for this P.O.S. (I knew I should have bought that presonus interface...)

So if you're reading this steer away from these rubbish products and get something else!

I wonder if others have had similar problems.

(If you cant tell I'm very p----d off!)

Pod X3 Live blank screen and no sound

I went to my gig last night and my Pod X3 Live started with a blank lit up screen and no sound. All other buttons lit up correctly, could change patches/banks, tap tempo etc, but a full blank screen and no sound.

I thought it could be adapter problem so I used the Line 6 adapter of the other guitarist in the band, but nth changed.

I tried to start the unit in safe mode, it apparently started in Safe Mode (no other pedals lit up this time), but since the screen remained blank I could do NTH!!! So I had to play the whole pop/rock band gig with a guitar directly into PA as the lead player of the band. If you play one gig like that, you'll know what I suffered!

When I got home, I connected X3 to my PC and Monkey recognizes the device, so does Gearbox. I can change the patches in Gearbox, but still no sound.

And what is more funny Monkey doesn't show the firmware info and the driver details in its "update" page.

I tried to record into Ableton Live. There is such an extremely low level and distorted sound. It is clear that the device can change patches, I could hear it after I normalized the recorded tracks.

I also tried reinstalling the Monkey and the device drivers, but nth changed.

So this is my 3rd Line 6 Device that leaves me in frustration in the middle of gig on stage. I experienced the same with my Variax 700 guitar and also with my bass, both with the very common "suddenly some strings go softer or even silent than the others" problem.

So how angry should I be and what is your solution to my Pod X3L problem?

Remember when the Variax was new? I remember the NAMM video when they were pushing the magic of the "mystery port". All the wonderful things the "mystery port" was going to provide. Well it certainly hooked alot of people into pre-ordering the Variax 500 which cost about a $1000.

And finally about 12 months later when the "mystery port" capabilities were realized it came in the form of a VERY expensive amp called the Vetta II. The only way you could access the full capabilities of the Variax was you had to purchase a Vetta II. Then they made available the Vetta I upgrade. What's that? All of this was suppose to be accessible through a computer interface? Well it finally happened but not before Line 6 dropped the price of the Variax by HALF PRICE!!

The Variax wasn't available for more than 2 years yet before they started selling it for HALF PRICE! And the full capability of the "mystery port" had not yet been developed! Thank you Line 6 for SCREWING us out of $500 bucks.

Why the sudden price drop? It's not like the speed of computer technology and the competition that goes with it. There was NO competition! Nobody had the technology and NO reason to drop the price! The technology never changed. It never improved. It is still the same technology today. Same models. Same sounds. Same stuff going into the Vaxrack whatever.

So why the price drop? Why drop the price of the Variax by half BEFORE the consumer can realize all the benefits of the technology?

I couldn't imagine Korg, Roland, Alesis, etc. pushing some great breakthrough sampler or whatever for a $1000 that will do X plus Y and Z in the very near future that NOBODY else has. "Wow, X is awesome but because it will be able to do Y and Z I'm gonna buy it!" And then W-H-A-M!! Before Y and Z is even available they sell it for HALF PRICE?! WHA?!

"Dude, you paid a 1000 dollars for your Variax 500?" "I just bought a Variax 500 AND the computer interface with software for 400 dollars less than what you paid for it." "And you just bought it 2 years ago!" "Cool."

Wow, some people are so gullible. To think that anyone would buy into the new product BS that Line 6 spews out is just amazing...

Line 6 should have AT LEAST offered the computer interface and software for FREE to those who bought the Variax 500 before the price drop. Instead they flipped them all off.

Moral of this TRUE story...Don't buy ANY new products from Line 6 until it's a couple of years in production and you might get it for half price.

And to Line 6.....I have not purchased another Line 6 product since and I tell EVERYONE this story. (flip)

My computer can't hang when I have to many plugins (Pod Farm) being used at once.

I pretty sure it's not my computer though, this is a very good cpu I have, a beast. I think it has more to do with the music recording software I'm using, Magix Music Maker 10. This is particularly cheap software, like 60 bucks 4 or 5 years ago. My friend gave it to me. It does alright and can use the plugins, gearbox or pod farm. When I have 7-9 tracks using the plugins its tough for my computer to keep things smooth, no hick ups etc. Is this gonna be a problem no matter what kind of recording software I use? Is there a limit to how many tracks can use the plugins at once before it freaks even the best computers out. I was thinking about getting Cakewalk Sonar software. Will this help? I record guitar, bass and vocals dry through the POD X3 live and use plugins in the mixer of Magix Music Maker to get things to sound best so I want to have pod plugins on lots of tracks if needed. Please can some one give me the rundown/technical specs on this? Thanks.

I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same as me. L6 is an american company right? and I know that they build them in China to keep down the cost for everyone, and that helps out everyone. But my problem is the speaker choice. Don't get me wrong Celestion has made some very defining sounds, but are they realy the right choice for L6? I mean Eminence is made in the USA, so why does a USA based company use chinese crap? why not help out the Americans, and Besides that Eminence speakers sound much better than Celestions do anymore ( Probably that whole not made in England thing) take for example the Celestion V30 and compare them to a governor by Eminence ( just bear with me) I know they are not the "Same" eventhough they are compared against each-other. But the Governer is a WAY smother sound than a V30. And thae eminence V12 $69.00 retail kills a V30 what is it now $149? or in my opinion the K100 roughly the same priceas a V30. and for less than 1/2 the price ....RETAIL!!!! so wouldn't it be nice if Americans BOUGHT AMERICAN? I've been watching alot of the @hitty economy crap lately. So my question is Who else feals this way. I know there are some people who couldn't live with out a real Celestion speaker, but honestly are they still celestions?Eminence are made in the USA with ,and get this USA parts!!!!! This has been bugging me so let me know your thoughts.

Hi,

I just recently installed Windows 7 64bit operating system, this is final retail version.

I have POD XT live and Pod farm, etc and I installed the POD XT live drivers and Line 6 Monkey. However, whenever I play back an audio, it has a crackling sound.

I don't know why this is happening. I also browsed the forum and tried some of the suggested work arounds but this issue isn't resolved.

Can you please tell me what I should do to resolve this crackling sound?

Also the LIne 6 Monkey doesn't show anything listed all under Updates. I installed the Line 6 Monkey 64bit version that is supposed to be compatible for Vista 64bit but that

didn't make any difference and the crackling sound is still there.

Hi guys.

I've tried asking Line6 this off the board, but I've got no response. which is fine. if the answer is 'yes it will work' then that means some of us wont upgrade our amps. but that's not my point.

I would like to by a SV MKII maybe a head, maybe a combo. I'm not 100% sure on that yet. I hear the SVPre is on its way for the MKII in a few months, so that's good news. but here's what I'm thinking.

I have an SV Pre and my SV12 is way out of warranty now anyway, and I have taken a look at the communications board in the amp before, and my feeling is that the FBV communications protocols are something similar to MIDI, but with a fundamental difference so that they're not compatible. BUT it would be silly of line6 to make the FBV protocol so different to MIDI that some kind of translator device couldn't sit in the back of the amp with FBV and MIDI on one board (as I guess it is in the MKII, as when you look at other amps with both like the vetta, the FBV and MIDI ports are next to each other) and then basically the amp's channel switching is controlled by FBV, and the MIDI signals are just translated in the amp in realtime.

So where am I going with this... well is communications board in the SV MKII (with FBV and MIDI on it) the same as the SV MKI board but with the added MIDI things and the MIDI to FBV translator?? If this is the case, and the actual connections from the board to the amp are identical in the SV MKI and MKII that would mean that some of us who will eventually own an SV MKI and an SV MKII could try to buy this board from a line6 service center and swap it out, thus giving us the ability to control both amps with out M13!!

obviously those of us who choose to control the amp with FBV pedals, can control both amps at the same time using space's fbv Y splitter (i guess... has anyone tested this with 2 SV's yet?) and then use the MIDI out on the SV MKII to perhaps change scenes on the M13 if thats possible.

anyone got any ideas about the comms board or the other info?

Pod XT Live Expression Pedal Failure

My expression pedal has been giving me fits lately. During the last several performances (I play every weekend) it's been a guessing game with this thing. When I power up the unit it will perform as it always has in the past but lately after a short time the expression pedal will suddenly fail the result being full output of the particular patch down the line.. Sometimes if I power down and power back up the problem will go away but then reappear a short time later. It's unpredictable. Other times when I power up the expression pedal doesn't work at all, full volume. I've been running a cry baby down line to try to manage this but it very inconvenient and is certainly not what I want. I've read about recalibrating the pedal but that doesn't sound like thats the answer. The pedal does work SOMETIMES b ut only for a short time. Whats up?

FBV shortboard malfunction

Yesterday I used my new Spider IV 150 w/ MK II shortboard with the band for the first time. I moved it from home, plugged it in and hooked up the shortboard. The amp worked and the board lit up but the volume pedal was on full and would not shut off in the heel down position. I was able to switch pre -sets but still no volume pedal. I procceded to use the gear without the pedal and after a while it started to work. Then the wah wah quit working. With the wah turned on both the green volume and the red wah light were lit, but the wah wah didn't function. After playing for a while I tried it again and it worked! I've got it set up again at home and everything seem to be fine. What happened? I bought this rig to try and simplify my gear set up but so far it's been a real headache. I confess that I'm not a techie and I may have bungled something but it was working fine at home ,and it's not as complicated as my Pod X3 Live pedal, which works fine...so far.

Also the FBV calibration steps that come with the downloaded Advanced Guide for the Spider amp don't do anything. I followed the directions to "power off the board, press and hold the 'D' footswitch while powering on the board'. There's supposed to be an LCD readout :Calibrate Pedal" but there isn't any such display . So I don't know if this thing is even "Calibrated". It seems to work fine, when it's working. Is it actually necessary to calibrate it?

Problems getting Superior Drummer 2.0 to work with iMac & Cubase4LE

I have barely started multi-track recording on a computer after using a Roland VS-880 & Korg D3200 hard disc recorders for years. I just bought Superior Drummer 2.0 (S2.0) yesterday and had a difficult time downloading all of S2.0 and all of the related items. I have never used drum software in a computer until yesterday. I have a new iMac with almost a terrabyte of free disc space. First, I downloaded all of S2.0 & related items & updates off the toontrack website, no problem. Not sure if it was OK to download all of that internet stuff first. Then I downloaded DVD Disk #1 for S2.0, no problem, I think that was the disc where I went for the full 20 gig version. After about an hour of downloading, it said to insert Disk #2, so I ejected Disk #1. It kept spitting out S2.0 disk #2 after I would put it in the computer. So, for the first time I tried putting the blue EZDrummer/EZPlayer pro/Claustrophobic EZX/Twisted EZX DVD disk #1 in the computer. It spit that disk out twice. So I went back to trying to download S2.0 disk #2. After many tries, I eventuaully downloaded that disk #2 (its files) into an empty 00000@_SUPERIOR LIBRARIES file folder. I did a similar thing with S2.0 disk #3, #4, and #5. I couldn't get S2.0 to open, so I downloaded the smaller (less than 10 gig version) of S2.0 from S2.0 disk #1. Then it said to download S2.0 disk #2, and I did that after several attempts (after spitting out the DVD repeatedly). It didn't say to download S2.0 disk #3, #4, or #5. Once again I tried to download the blue EZDrummer/EZPlayer pro/Claustrophobic EZX/Twisted EZX DVD disk #1 in the computer. It spit that out twice, so I gave up on that. I am using Cubase LE4. Here are my iMac specs (with Snow Leopard 10.6.1):

I can open Toontrack solo OK, and it can play the different Grooves OK. When I go to a MIDI folder, there are the following files: 000@_EZ_PLAYER, 002@EZPLAYER_PRO_MIDI, 20@_USER_LIBRARIES, MY MIDIFILES, but they are all empty. In Cubase LE4, it says Superior Drummer is the VST Instrument. On Toontrack solo Library, it only has S1 - Drummer, S1 - Percussionist, S1 - Cocktail, and N.Y. Avatar. I can't figure out how to set the paths for dfh Superior, Custom & Vintage, and Vintage add-on. Can't get toontrack drums to play within Cubase recorded song. HELP PLEASE!!!

After 3 more attempts I got the iMac to accept the blue EZDrummer/EZPlayer pro/Claustrophobic EZX/Twisted EZX DVD disk #1 without spitting it out. I tried to download it over 10 times & it gives me this message every time: "! The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

When I bought S2.0, Guitar Center handed me a box with 7 DVD's in it: 5 for S2.0 and 2 blue ones. One blue one: EZDrummer/EZPlayer pro/Claustrophobic EZX/Twisted EZX DVD disk #1. The other blue one: Drumkit From H ell EZX/Latin Percussion EZX/Vintage Rock EZX/Nashville EZX Disc 2. Is it necessary to download the EZDrummer to get S2.0 to work? I didn't pay for EZDrummer separately. Did Guitar Center accidently give me EZDrummer for free?

No firmware/driver update for X3 Pro with Monkey

I've just bought an X3 Pro, and wanted to update the drivers and firmware, both of which are at 1.00.

I have the latest version of Monkey installed, and it identfies my X3 Pro is connected. However, in the updates tab, the only thing that shows up is the Applications sub menu. No drivers/ firmware options to be seen (which can be seen in the updates tab when I switch devices to my XT Pro). So there is seemingly no way to update the firmware or drivers!

Any help very much appreciated.

In U2 'emulations' lots of people write to set a digital delay as a dotted eight note.

When using knob 2 I can set a numeric amount or a dotted note.

I cannot find a description of the symbol that represents the dotted eight.

Can anybody tell me what the notes represent in human language ?

Hey I was wondering if this question/issue has came up in the past. I am trying to record a vid for youtube using my POD x3 live by using the webcam software provided with my PC. When I record direct, (mic or USB connection), there seems to be an audio clipping/dropout/chopping going on. I have adjusted the recording volume and that has cured the clipping issue so it records the full spectrum of the sound but it hasnt fixed the other problem. The volume dips on the recorded track and does not stay consistent. I think I have found a way to circumnavigate this issue but its somewhat of a headache by recording the video on mute and recording the track on Audacity Beta 1.3 (which is an awesome software!!) and then using windows movie maker to combine the two to overlay the tracks. If you have any ideas on how to remove that step I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Tried to download Java Environment on SunnSystems webpage, it says concerning Apple MAC System/OS

that the java on MACOSX is included and should check MAC UPDATE for the plateform but it cant find anything new or updates.

Crackling in monitors, using Toneport UX1

I've tried the recommendations that have already been posted, including optimizing my computer settings, downloading the latest drivers and software versions, and trying different settings for buffer size, bitrate, and so on. I've checked all the hardware (monitors are brand new, cables are new/not damaged). My computer should be plenty fast enough (and when I'm not using monitors, it handles the recording software fine, with processing and memory to spare). So I've kind of reached my wits end...I just spent a bunch of money on these monitors and I can't hear anything but crackling static.

Hardware:

Laptop (Windows Vista, 64bit, 2.10GHz, 4.0GB RAM)

Toneport UX1 (connected by USB 2.0)
M-Audio Studio Monitors (connected by two 1/4" cables to Output from Toneport)

Guitar or Amp (into 1/4" Instrument input on Toneport)

Software:

Hello! I've had my variax 500 electric guitar a couple of years now and it has worked flawlessly until now. When I play barre chords with the lowest keynote on the a-string (for example a high E) the b-string and the g-string doesn't "agree" and i get that tremolo effect which occures when the guitar isn't in tune. However the guitar is perfectly tuned cause when checking the strings separately on those frets that are problematic they're in tune. And I tested to record when first playing on the b-string and then I dubbed that with playing on the g-string and it sounds perfect. It's only when they're played together at the same time it sounds out of tune. If i tune down the b-string just a little it dissapears, but then all other chords gets out of tune. As i've just had it in for intonation I know that that isn't the problem, and i've checked that all frets are in tune. My guess is that something is wrong with the technical part of the guitar, maybe the piezo mics are damaged or something in the "computer" of the guitar. I don't know what to do, I guess I need to get service, but when searching for a service center in sweden i get no results, why is that?

Hi,

I have a problem with my POD X3Live.

I played 2 hours, pod was connected into computer via USB.

Next i turned off POD for 15min. Computer was still turned on.

When i turned on again, on the display showed first Line 6 Logo and next text "UPDATE FLASH".

When I update flash via Monkey on the display show text "UPDATE FLASH..."

But after restart POD X3 Live, this text is still on display .

Can you help me? Or i have to send my pod to repair?

I think I may have an unwinnable situation here. I get alot of hum whenever I plug in my PODxt to my computer via usb.
I can alleviate these problems by

Removing power from the laptop and having it run on battery power alone (I've tried different outlets and different power strips)

Not using a tone setting with a lot of overdrive

unplug the usb (duh), but that makes recording slightly impossible (I think)

If I touch either pickup (humbucker) the hum goes away

I've done some reading, and appears as though this is a ground loop issue that there isn't a solution for (or one I found)
Granted I am on some heavy meds and my focus isn't the best.
Now this does not happen on all guitars equally

So, does anyone know how I can have my USB and eat it too?

I bought the line 6 pod farm for my boyfriend so he could record his music and burn it to a CD. When I went to Guitar Center, that is what I told them I was trying to do and they sold me the Line 6 Pod farm. And while he absolutely loves it and all that he can do with it, he still cannot seem to get it to actually record his playing to his computer in any format that can be shared or burned to a CD. Is he missing a step or is he missing some other system or program that is needed to actually be able to accomplish that part?

I've been said to start a new topic and post my pc's specs, so it could help.

ASUS k50AB (notebook)

Windows XP SP3, 32-bit, slightly modified (just for the looks +few program installed, not important)

AMD ATHLON X2 QL-64 (2.10 GHz, 1MB cache)

4 GB RAM (Windows reads only 3,25 GB because it's an XP, still)

ATI Radeon 4570 (i doubt that's important, but whatever)

250 GB HDD

WiFi IEEE 802.11b/g/n
LAN 100 Mbps

So you can see i experience the common noise problem on Windows XP and having an Athlon, not Turion.

I've got TonePort UX1.

None of the solutions posted helped.

Please do something, i hope you guys will be able to fix this.

This thread was started purely to direct people to the feature request page on this site which people are doing and that's great.

Whining and complaining doesn't achieve anything, so please don't drag down the intention of this thread with negativity.

There appears to be some misconceptions driving negative comments. Just because the POD X3 manages 2 tone paths doesn't mean it has 2 processors, it doesn't. If you open it up and peek inside you'll see just one Sharc processor in there. Also, with the improvements in the sound on the X3, Line 6 told us that the modelling was improved to take advantage of the processing power and the digital sample rate, this too would chew up a big chunk of processing power. The POD X3 has all the bass and vocal stuff in there already. It handles 8 tracks of digital data out the USB port at a high sample rate, more grunt gone on that too.

So, I am guessing that when the code cutters got hold of the hardware, they packed as much into the unit as the hardware could handle without leaving much room for any extras.

Where that leaves us is quite simple. We say thanks for making the POD X3 so much better than the PODxt, but if it's possible, could we see some of the new effects that have been developed for the M13 included in the POD X3?

It doesn't hurt to be polite. My parents taught me to say "please".

Pod 2.0 to laptop connection freak-out and frustration!

I have been trying to download Line6 edit and Line6 Monkey, and I am way past frustrated. One of the main reasons I bought the Pod 2.0, was to go online and download custom tones. I can't even get the edit and monkey software to load...keeps asking me to make sure I am connected to the Internet because Java runtime environment needs to be installed, or to connect my Pod to my computer; I am, it is, but it won't.

...$200 for this Pod, and then I find out I have to buy a MIDI to USB cable in order to use it with my computer (seriously, how hard would it have been to have a freakin' USB port on the Pod 2.0? Should I really have to pay $300 for the Pod XT to have it. Come on, seriously???!!!). I'm a little annoyed until I find out the cable costs about 50 bucks, and "a little annoyed" turns into: really, really annoyed. I mean, come-on, 3 more cables and I could have bought another Pod 2.0!!

I've downloaded installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled edit, monkey, Java, and JRE a dozen times. I even completely reinstalled Windows XP on my computer to start fresh. NOTHING WORKS AND YOUR SUPPORT INSTRUCTIONS ARE CONFUSING AND INCOMPLETE!!!

Now, having said all this, I love the Pod 2.0 itself...great sounds. But can someone please help me GET THIS THING HOOKED UP AND TALKING TO MY PC BEFORE I GO COMPLETELY NUTTS?

Sound suddenly choppy/distorted

Got my Toneport UX2 running through my Mac via USB, and have the main audio running out of that to monitors. When using it sometimes, the audio suddenly becomes choppy and distorted, almost at a rate of 1 'blip' per second. I restart the mac and everything is fine again until it happens. What is going on??

I have a podxt live which is 4yrs old now. The problem that i am facing is that when i upgraded its flash memory with the newer version, line6 edit showed me the added amps and all but the thing is the patches dont work properly anymore. The reverb and delay didnt work for any settings. So i again rollbacked my version and now the delay and reverb are working properly and line6 is showing the earlier no. of amps.

Ok…I’m new to Line 6 products so forgive me if I sound ignorant & naïve about these products. I really could use some advice as to what products I need and how they work together. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok…first, what I am looking for:

1. I want to plug my guitar directly into a PA and be able to get great sounds from it.

2. I also want to do some desktop recording. I currently use Garageband 09 and I really like the Pod Farm interface and would love to be able to integrate it with garageband for my guitar tones.

3. I need to use some of the patches from the custom tone site in order to replicate specific tones when performing covers.

4. While I really want to use a unit for performing live, I don’t like the idea of having to be hunched over my unit trying to dial in tones. I would love to be able to have all of the tones I will need worked out ahead of time and just be able to trigger them later by stepping on a pedal.

5. I am confused between the line 6 monkey, pod farm, and gear box software. I want to be able to control my unit with the computer and then take the unit to a gig to recall what I created on the computer.

Some questions I have:

What is the difference between using a Pod X3 or XT with a FBV Shortboard instead of the X3 & XT Live models? I like the idea of being able to play with the pod without bending over and still have triggers to use with my feet.

When using custom tone, is it as simple as downloading the patch from the site and triggering when stepping on a pedal?

Thanks for any input…I’m new to this world of Line 6 and multi effect units and amp simulators.

High pitched whine

While recording a kawai k5000 I get a high pitched whine this also happens if I even turn on gearbox or podfarm. So far I have tried 2 different computers, running the laptop off battery power, switching outlets, switching the power cord on the Kawai, using all ports on ux8, switching the ux8 and k5000 to different outlets, using new audio cables and using a new usb cable on the ux8.

Some strange details: usually I run things through a mixer and effects before going into the ux8, even with the voulme down to 0 on everything the whine perists. Plugging the audio cable from the k5000 1/4 of the way into the mixer and there is no whine, but I can't change the volume! It's only the k5000 that is doing it. The whine is there even with the k5000 off, but goes away if it is unplugged. I tried using a behringer ufo interface and it is fine, plugging straight into the onboard sound card it is fine, plugng right into a zoom h4n it is fine as well. In some ways it seems like a k5000 problem, but all other recording interfaces have no whine.

Any other ideas?

Digidesign Eleven Rack is out, what next from Line 6?

Digidesign brought out the Eleven Rack and I'm wondering what Line 6 will show up next.

Although much stuff one can do with the Eleven Rack also may be done with Line 6 stuff, there are some things only the Digidesign box can do and they say it sounds better. On the other hand it has less amp models and there's no floorboard for example and it costs a little bit more, but then also includes a version of Pro Tools, so I maybe beates the price you will have to pay for a X3 pro and some professional recording software.

I just received my TonePort DI-S from my GuitarPort bundle. I installed all of the software. I have the TonePort plugged in. I have a green light. I have re-installed drives more than once. I have restarted the computer more than once. I have switched USB port, computer front panel not a hub. I have all of the up to date Drivers, USB, Gear Box, etc.

I am getting no sound through my computer speakers from the Guitar. I see needles moving on Gear Box. I have twisted knobs, pushed buttons, tried combinations of things. I can hear the video tutorials played from the embedded browser at the bottom of gear box just fine.

I know there is something super simple that I am not seeing here. Why can't I hear my guitar played through my PC speakers?

My MIC entrance in my UX1 makes a lot of noise for itself, even if i have nothing plugged to it!!

Here are the printscreens (again, nothing plugged into MIC)... the noise is, as you can imagine, quite a lot, especially because the only way of hearing myself decenlty without licking the microfone is pushing up the gain up to almost 10dB.

0dB - 7dB - 8dB - 9dB - 10dB -

Please note the noise is independant from the setup i choose, it appears in the dry input as you can see. My guitar input works perfeclty, without any noise, wich makes this even stranger

Monkey doesn't show Pocket POD 1.01 flash update

Hello,

I'm a customer from Germany and bought a Pocket POD back in December, 2007.

Today I read about the 1.01 flash upgrade for my Pocket POD and downloaded the Monkey software v1.31.

I connect my Pocket POD to the power adaptor first and after this connect it to my PC with the Line 6 USB cable, no other cables are connected to the POD.

The POD works fine with the Vyzex v1.17 software, so I launched the Monkey (after closing the Vyzex software). It connects to my Line 6 Account but shows "There are no updates available" :-(

The Pocket POD is registered within my account and the Monkey doesn't show any message about device registration either.

The POD shows "Version 1.00" at startup...

Direct Monitoring Problem

I am unable to enable "direct monitoring" in cubase. I have only acquired the PODFarm plugin recently so I didn't notice this before. This was happening under cubase 3 sx and now under 5. All steinberg has to say about it is the driver doesn't support it. This is highly frustrating! I have reinstalled all line6 software/drivers and the cubase 5 is a fresh install.

Any ideas?

Spider Valve MKii - Mesa and Agro (Metal) models compared to original

Is it me, or does anyone else think that the Mesa and Agro (orange and blue metal) models are better on the original Spider Valve. I spent over an hour with the MKii 112 today in the loud room at GC. The new amp models, effects, and controls were all excellent. However, the aforementioned models did not sound near as good to me as they do on the original SV. I've A/B'ed them, and the original models are much stronger and clearer. The original mesa model retained much more note definition and clarity. The new model sounded muddier. The agro (blue metal) sounded quite a bit weaker to me on the MKii than on the original.

I noticed the same differences on the regular Spider III vs Spider IV as well.

I gig regularly with my Spider Valve, and I couldn't wait for the MKii. These two models are a deal-breaker for me though. I use these two models during many parts of my gigs, so this becomes a deal-breaker for me. Sucks too, because I love everything else about it.

Any thoughts?

m13 bypassing all effects with one click

Is it possible to bypass all the effects by hitting one button. I have parts in songs that are full of effects accross the board, but it then I have parts for solos as well as dry parts. I need a one button one click type of thing. Is it possible to do this easily with the m13? I understand I can tap a button to turn off the individual fx, however, like I said, I need to be able to do all either on or off at one time as well as have the ability to use it in stomp box mode.

Spider Valve MkII combo questions

1) do the combos run hot? i know that the modeling portion of the amp is essentially a computer, and we all know computers like to run cool. wouldn't feel very confident about the amp's longevity if it's constantly running hot.

2) will my mk1 shortboard work with this amp? if so, will i be able to do looping w/it?

3) any way to save programs? i know there's no Line 6 Edit support. not sure if there's some other way?

4) is the cabinetry plywood, or particle board/mdf? i saw that the 412 cab is plywood so i'd like to think that that's the case w/the combos.

5) aside from the two preamp tubes and maybe different presets, what's the difference between the mk2's and the originals? features aside, is this newer version supposed to sound better?

I purchased a Pocket POD a few weeks ago. I have registered it to my account and it appears in my account correctly (see attached image: line6_registration_page.jpg Note: username in web account & Monkey the same; serial number blurred out intentionally). I used the Serial # from inside the battery compartment. When I launch Line 6 Monkey v1.31 and log into my account, it give me a dialog box stating, "It appears you have not registered your Pocket POD with your user account." (see attached image: line6_pocketmonkey.jpg). If I click "Register Now...", it takes me to my account page where it shows my device registered to my account. I followed your FAQ and ensured my serial number was in the form 'XXXNLNNNNNNNNNN'. I have tried the following with no success:

Logged out of Line 6 Monkey and log back in.
Waited 1 week to see if the serial number just needed time to associate.
Installed latest version of Line 6 Monkey on a different computer.
Deleted my registered device and re-registered it.

Current state of affairs: My device is currently registered to my account through the website, however Line 6 Monkey still shows it as unregistered.

Although the device is not registered it has allowed me to update to the latest firmware: 1.01, however I would like to ensure that my device is properly registered.

OS Info:

I have tried on 2 different machines running:

Windows Vista x86_32bit Professional and Ultimate.
Both are single boot systems.
The POD is recognized on both systems.
The Vyzex editor recognizes the device and I can control the POD through it.
Both machines are Intel Core 2 Duo, but running 32 bit versions of OS.
Both machines have 3 2.0 USB ports. I am connecting the POD directly to the computer.

Pod Studio UX1 Not Working With Windows 7

I've gone through all of the support FAQs/discussions so this is a last-ditch attempt. I am getting sporadic performance from the UX1 on my laptop (brand new, core i7 processor, Win7, 4g ram). Playback stutters, system sounds only happen sometimes (e.g. - running the "test" function on the sound devices control panel only plays sounds less than half the time) - thus I know it's not an issue with my DAW software. Following the manual and support FAQs, I have:

1. disabled antivirus

2. disabled all wireless/bluetooth network adapters

3. disabled the computer's sound card

4. adjusted sound settings (buffers, size, etc.)

Still, the stuttering problem when playing back and the sporadic appearance of system sounds persists. I have the latest Line6 drivers and software. Any other tips?

IRELAND + UK Power Supply for POD 2.0

The power supply for my 2.0 is crocked. I know this cus I took the unit into a shop in Derry and he took the power supply out of another POD on sale and plugged my unit in which worked perfectly. The shop has no power supply units in stock for sale on their own. Of course they can order them in but because we're not a major metropolitan area it could be weeks before the shop needs to place an order for stock with Line 6.

Every music shop between here and Galway I've visited and no one stocks Line 6. This fruitless drive around the country has peeved me right off.

Someone please sell me a UK (240/9V/1200w) Line 6 AC Power Supply or I'm gonna have to emmigrate. I'll buy it on line right now if you can point me in the right direction.

This has probably been discussed many times , but I can't seem to find the answers.

Just got a X3 Live this weekend.

Using a Strat, thru headphones, or through a mackie mixer .... I'm getting a TON of Noise and Hum on pickups 1-3-5. So much so that most patches/presets are unusable due to the xtreme noise. A few presets even exhibit extreme noise using pickup positions 2 and 4.

I've also tried my humbucker guitar and it's a little better, but still more noise than a normal stage setup using a real amp. Waaayyy too much noise.

I've tried several different outlets throughout my house and it stays the same. I would certainly not be able to play this thing out live with this much noise and not being able to use pickups 1-3-5

Any ideas or solutions will be hugely appreciated. Thank you,

UX2 Crashes when receiving a powerful signal?

I've had my UX2 crash on me three different ways, all related to high input levels, or so I believe.

Running a bass into the instrument input, had it turned up loud, needles were over on the right. The UX2 shut down. I unplugged/plugged it back in but Reaper wouldn't recognize it. Had to reboot everything. Creative inspiration killed instantly.

Running 2 mics into the UX2, setting levels on guitar amp. It was loud and the mic gain was up. The UX2 shut down, similar results.

Playing a mix back via Reaper, some of the levels were set high and before I could drop them, the UX2 shut down...

Is this supposed to happen when the UX2 receives too strong a signal or do I have a bad unit? I can't imagine that any level of audio input would physically damage the UX2.

Running Windows XP on a laptop, Reaper, POD Farm. This seems to happen intermittently...which makes me wonder if I have a bad piece of hardware (yet again).

hello everybody @ line6 as a line 6 freak - not since the very first hour, but since i bought a pod xt live - i am now a proud owner of the pod x 3 live. i play it through a marshall 9100 poweramp and a hughes&kettner vintage 4x12 box. when i had to find a subject for a research work that i have to do for my diploma at the SAE in zuerich, switzerland, i came up with the idea of comparing a marshall jcm 900 with both the clean- und dist-channel-emulation in the pod x 3. my plan is to compare the pure pod sound with the pod played through the poweramp and the jcm 900 box, and to compare these with the real amp. i intend to really test the pod out, listening, measuring, comparing waveforms etc. empirically i would expect the pod to do a real good job in this challenge! it is clear to me, that you can't reveal your business secrets just for the success of my work, but... here is my question: could you help me with some deeper insights into the principles that are applied in the pod x 3? could you eventually give me more informations about how the models are designed? ... if it has something to do with convolution or whatever? are there books about programming audio dsp which could help me to understand better how the pod really works? hi I have a little problem with my pod x3

When i change on the stampboard the effect from lets say 1d to 1 c...sound from gearbox hold the line solo (good sound for alive from Pearl Jam...any other suggestion is welcom) and change to Lifeson sound Xanadu (good for bridge sound Alive from pearl jam...any other suggestion is welcom) it is oke. but if i change back again the sound is dropped a few seconds. Irritating while playing with the band on stage and practising.

How can i make sure that will not happen. I have this problem all the time with changing from effect to effect.

UX8 turns on, cannot connect, and can't turn off

Hello,

I have a UX8 that suddenly stopped working, when i pluged a guitar in INST, port 1

What happened, is that the UX suddenly froze, some clip lights were on, others were dim red, it simply felt like my system was twitching.

So i tried to turn it off, but it didnt work.

I unpluged it and when I pluged it back in and turned it on, the clip lights were going form left to right ( the two clip lights next to the meters were not on nor were they flashing).

and i cannot turn it off, so I have to unplug it again..

I thought it was a tough piece of hardware..

Can anybody please tell me what has gone wrong?

extreme cross modulation to aux in channel

I wanted to track two guitars with the following dual tone configuration.

Guitar one to guitar input processed with tone one routed to direct out left.

Guitar two to aux input processed with tone two routed to direct out right.

Both guitars with a high gain distortion sound.

I noticed an extreme cross modulation from the processed signal of tone one into the aux in channel every time a jack connector is put in to the aux input.

First I though it might be a misfunction of my device but I ran the same setup with the devices of one of my collegues and there was the same effect.

I guess this cannot be normal.

So what can I do to prevent such cross modulations?

I have been unsuccessful in getting Line 6 Edit to work. I have downloaded the program twice, and have been present both times to insure that the "recommended" Jave RTE was installed on my computer.

After looking through this forum, I noticed that Line 6 apparently has corrected any problem when using Jave RTE6, which I also installed from the JAVA site in an effort to fix things. This has not corrected my problem. Anyone able to offer an ideas?

When I check my Java properties on my computer, it says I am running build 6.1.blah-blah-blah...should this version not work with Line 6 edit? The Line 6 recommended version (JavaRTE5) is also on my computer. Should I delete JAVA version 6?

When I start the the program, I get the following error message:

Hey,

I just bought a new Spider IV 75 watt amp today. When I got home and plugged in nothing worked. Power was on, the screen lit up, but none of the knobs worked and no sound came out. I had the mastervolume all the way up and my guitar volume all the way up, I turned it on and off and reset factory settings, nothing seems to work.

I hate extra noise. I use noise gates on all of my tracks except drums but it still doesn't push the quality to it's finest. I know how to mix rather well but I still can't get the quality I've been striving for on my guitars. How can I get my guitar to sound round, full and tight within the mix? is there some kind of eq or compressor that can do the job? if so what settings are best?

Couldnt run install from disc so downloaded Vista driver, installed ok but when using guitar through tone port it picked up sinal as on gearbox the level indicators where moving but no sound. suddenly sound came for about 10 seconds then went, did this 3-4 times so i got bored and went to play some mp3... suddenly my entire 80gb mp3 collection would not open in any player and kept saying file format not recognised... i did manage to get some to play but volume was almost non existant. I tried everything, ran in vista compatability mode, tried to change default programs and all sorts.

I uninstalled everything completely but still couldnt play any mp3... had to do system restore and luckily i set a restore point a week ago and everything is fine now, I would recomend setting a restore point before trying to install anything from line 6. I am missing my Tone port and wish line 6 would pull there finger out and get a Windows 7 driver out or are they going to make it obsolete....

I just got a pod xt. I'm a young guitarist looking to make a career as a composer/ musician :]I downloaded all the programs from the monkey thinger.

When I open pod farm, it says no compatible line 6 usb devices are connected, when my pod is.Line 6 edit, claims I have no Java runtime. The riff works thing opens, but when I record and stuff it shows volume moving when im playing, but when I play it back or at all, it doesn't play to my speakers..

this is a little confusing.

Hi.

I have a Toneport KB 37, a variax acoustic 700 and workbench. I've bought a laptop in the summer to use as a dedicated homestudio. It had Windows Vista on it, the KB37 worked fine but the recording software was plagued with problems due to Vista's clumsiness. I gave up and waited for Windows 7 which promised to be better. It seems it is but I'm guessing I don't have the right drivers for Windows 7 and i can't seem to find them on your website.

Have I missed them?

M9 Expression Pedal Issues

The beauty of this beast is how you can program the expression pedal to control multiple paramters. This is why the delay modeler was such a hit with me. However; I can't seem to get the expression assignments to save. In fact when I turn the unit back on, not only does the M9 not remember my heal and toe settings it won't even recongnize the expression pedal is there. I found (while on the gig) I could go into the setup and turn the expression pedal assignments off and back on again and it would start working, but not with what I programmed it to do- I have to reprogram on the fly.

Now its song 3 of the set. Everything is working, although not exactly as I programmed it too, and I have to tune. By the way, I love the fact this thing has a built in tuner. After using the tuner, the expression pedal is not working again and I gave up trying to use the expression pedal.

So am I missing something? Pleae tell me this is not a bug.

Do I need to be in a different save mode? Its currently set to the default.

My unit recently began to cut out signal. It looks like it is re-booting almost, and then the sound will come back temporarily and it all starts over again. Hello

I have a pod xt and want to use it for things like reamping. I'm working on a macbookpro snow leopard. I can't connect the pod via USB, I have an error message on the preference panel. The gearbox tells me to update the usb firmware, but I can't do that with line6 monkey because ot the version of the firmware that does'nt allow to update with usb!

I found this workaround but I don't want to spend money just to update the firmware. Is there another way to get my pod xt working on snowleopard?

Q: My unit cannot update via USB, and I have Flash Memory 1.01. How do I update from Flash Memory 1.01 to a newer version?

A: First, verify if you have 1.01. Please hit the TUNER button and scroll using the SELECT knob to the last page. If you have a version later than 1.01, you can use your USB connection.

In order to update your PodXt from version 1.01 to the latest version, you will need to download Line 6 monkey (as described above) as well as a MIDI to USB interface. We recommend the MIDI SPORT UNO from M-AUDIO. Install the drivers for your interface, then run LINE 6 MONKEY with your POD XT unit connected to your interface. Click on the CONNECT USING MIDI CABLES button, and make sure that you see the MIDI IN and MIDI OUTS set to your interface. Then go through the FLASH MEMORY installation as described above. After this is done, you will be able to update your PODxt series unit using USB. See the following link for more information on connecting to your Line 6 unit via Midi:

I recently bought myself a POD Mount, one of these:

Whilst I love the product in theory, in practise the rubberized pins that push into the holes on the POD don't seem quite big enough. There is a bit of friction when you push them in, but if I pick the POD up without supporting the Mount, the Mount instantly falls away under its own weight. I presumed the rubber pins would fit more snuggly than this so that the POD would be a little more securely attached to the Mount. So I wondered what your opinion is on this and - if you think it sounds faulty - whether I might be able to get four more rubber pins to try out with the Mount?

Also, I understand that you can use screws to attach the POD to the Mount. Should the Mount have come with some screws (mine didn't), or is it up to us to source them? If it is up to us, do you have any details about what type of screws need to be used - in terms of diameter, and more importantly length (I don't want to use screws which are too long and end up interfering with or breaking the PCB or electronics inside).

I would really appreciate any help on this

For me, it was James Hetfield and the ...And Justice For All album. When it came out in 1988, I was 14 years old, and had just recently been introduced to the metal scene when my family moved and I had to switch to a different school. Man, I was immediately hooked, not only on metal, but on wanting to play the guitar. Back in those days, it seemed like James Hetfield was a god. My entire playing style emulated his, right down to the insane art of downpicking everything. Couldnt do that these days, lol, once I learned alternate picking I never looked back.

Hey. Recently I got my Spider Valve HD100 and matching cab. It is amazing. It has so much diversity but I am still lost in finding good tones! I recently got into a metal band with my friends and It will be my first time playing with a drummer with an actual tube amp (i had a 15w spider III before) and I hope to turn the volume up to keep up with the drummer. I have a few questions. I noticed while playing through my 15w spider III I get a nice sound for a song (Waking the Demon by Bullet for my valentine) but when I try to copy the sound on my valve It just doesnt sound the same (probably due to more bass and mid etc.) I'm wondering if I turn the amp louder to keep up with a drummer if I can get a better sound. I'm very happy with this amp but I hope I can get a better distortion by raising the volume (I don't want pedals yet, besides a better noise gate) Tone searching is seriously hard work, at least for me. I love BFMV and if anyone knows a good tone to get for them please share.

P.S. I'm using the amp right now at Neighborhood volume, so very very low in a garage.

Hi,

Currently my setup is like this:

Guitar: Fender American Stratocaster plugged into the "Guitar In" slot.

Amp: Fender Blues Junior (only has 1 jack input). This one is plugged into the "Live Out - Right" mono.

My computer setup is running Vista 64bit atm. but im having some troubles recording. I've tried RiffWorks Line 6 Edition.

It registers my sound (i can see the bars moving up and down when i play). But when i try to playback afterwards nothing comes out.

Gearbox works fine to tweak the sounds etc. So no problem there.

I've installed Line6 Monkey and PODFarm as well.

Is anyone aware of a free tool that will allow me to record my own tracks using the effects from the X3 Live and tell me how i should set it up.

My brothers and sisters in arms, I have a question for you all as metal musicians:

What is your writing process like?

This of course can stem out to how you get yourself inspired before a session, how you interact with your fellow musicians or bandmates, where you find your hands on your instrument - anything.

To me, it just seems something not often discussed since I'm sure we all do it so differently.

Personally, I'll admit that it's tough for me to get inspired to write something, but there's one place where it happens most - my car.

On a drive home, during my normal vehicular jam session, I'll hear something that'll stick out and make me think, "I need to write something at least fractionally as awesome".

From there, I get home and start play some scales and chords trying to get that "feel" that the lick from earlier gave me.

As a structure comes together, I invite my buddy Abe over to play some Bass and write a fullblown song.

I have no doubt that you ladies and gents have some more science to your method and I'm looking forward to hearing some of it. :]

I don't know whatever happened to Septemfluous, but I owe him a *huge* thank you for turning me on to the Michael Kelly brand. I bought a jumbo acoustic electric by MK back in the summer and in my search to replace the Ibanez SZ I thought I might try the MK Patriot Custom. Although my favorite color in the family is the amber one:

I ended up getting a "black fade" used on eBay for $270!!!

It showed up today and I can't get over what a high quality instrument this is. Both pups are individually coil-tappable, and bouncing between single and dual coil mode on the front pup alone was great for bright, stratty tones and then dark, smooth jazz-ish tones without any adjustments. Dial in the bridge pup and the thing just shines. The neck pocket is angled to fit your hand perfectly as you slide up the neck. I liked my Ibanez, but I never liked the pickups. That doesn't seem to be a problem for this guitar -- it's got some sort of "PAF Plus" pups and they sound killer.

Here's the MF description:

It starts with an extra deeply carved maple top on a hand-selected mahogany body. The set-in neck is tightly fit to assure maximum sustain and performance.

Installed in this best-in-class body is a set of pickups developed especially for this guitar, built using the same classic all USA Made components as many collectible humbuckers. To give the Custom a high output edge while retaining a deep rich tone requires exacting specifications, including a special overwound technique. Normally, humbuckers are mounted from plastic rings, suspending them apart from the full vibration and tone of the body. These are attached directly to the maple and mahogany body to draw every ounce of sound out. The coil splitting allow you to switch each pickup from a full humbucker tone to a single-coil tone with a simple push-pull pot.

An ebony fingerboard, recessed control knobs, Grover tuners, real abalone block inlays, TonePros locking bridge and an amazing flame maple top complete this amazing package.

Yeah, sure -- there's some sales hyperbole in there, but I was fully prepared to spend the $450 or so it would've taken to buy this new, and I would have thought I'd stolen something.

Seriously, if you're in the market for LP style dual humbucker, this thing should be on your list. Read the revews on Harmony Central and on the MF.com website. Really, forget the price, this guitar feels and sounds as nice as my Fender American Deluxe Strat.

i have a really high gain patch in my X3L... and I'm sure I can hear a slight digital clipping going on... but my clip light doesn't come on...

so i know that there's certain FX's setups in my XT that used to sound like that and not show a clip light, whereas others would show the clip light... but the problem i have is that even if I turn up all the vol and gain knobs on an amp and stomp I can't get the clip light to show on my X3L.

I'm assuming it's broken, but does anyone know of an FX/amp combination on their X3 that will always get teh clip light on so I can test... I have high gain pickups in all my guitars so I have the power to clip... so to speak, lol

Calibrate FBV Express MKII with Spider III 75 amp

My FBV Express pedal does not control volume or Wah. It will switch between the two fine, but moving the pedal has not effect. I tried to calibrate with this method:

FBV Express

1) Unplug the RJ45 cable from your FBV EXPRESS

2) Move the expression pedal all the way to the toe down position

3) Hold down the A and D switches

4) Plug in your RJ45 with the switches still depressed and hold this for 10 seconds (you will see the LED go blank)

5) Move the expression pedal to the heel position and then all the way forward to the toe.

6) Shift all of your weight to the toe position (you will want to stand up) until the WAH light switches on.

7) Wait 10 seconds and click back to VOL. Your FBV EXPRESS is now calibrated.

But on step 4, the LED never goes blank. Are these compatible? I am doing something wrong?

When I purchased my X3 Live, I was told that I would eventually be able to get a free iLok license for Pod Farm. I've had it over a year now and haven't been able to find a way to get the iLok license deposited to my account. Presence MOD - C7 (.1uf capacitor change)

I've been successful in taming the highs on my SV112. I simply replaced the C7, .1uf capacitor with .02uf.

You can also use .022, .033, or .047 depending on your taste. Please note that higher the capacitor value, the harsher the treble will get. To my ears, .02uf is just perfect. My SV now sounds more like a Bogner Alchemist which is alot smoother than an SV.

Before I could not dial the Presence knob past 12o'clock. Now I could go all the way up without overcoloring the highs.

Please be warned: The voltages in there are lethal that's enough to kill you! Consult an electronics expert if you're not sure what to do.

This is very basic, but I'm not sure wherelse I should've posted this, so...

When I try to download Line6 Edit, there are three parts that download. During the process, it says please make sure you're conected to the internet so that Java Runtime can download. If I wasn't connected to the internet, I wouldn't be able to begin the download in the first place. But, Java Runtime always fails to download. The other parts download, but runtime doesn't so I can't use Edit. Any tips?

By the way I have basically no experience with dowloading any kind of software, so sorry if this is really obvious

i have had my pod running straight into a 15" pa speaker with no amp inbetween. the signal is coming from the headphone socket. i use it for low volume practice. the speaker is 8 ohm. am i ok to do this?

the signal from the other outputs is not powerful enough. i currantly have a mono cable from the headphone socket to the pa speaker is this a normal mono signal in this case? thanks.

So I was thinking... as I've got 3 Les Pauls, that I would like to record a short Les Paul tribute to the man himself.

Now there's no way I would be able to play like him, so I thought the best idea would be to just play whatever we play (any style) BUT it must be played on Les Pauls

So I'm going to start looking to see if I can find a suitable backing track, and as I've got a couple of weeks off work coming up, I will definately be able to get stuck into this and the other couple of recording projects that I've been meaning to do on this group.

ILok will not unlock Podfarm Platinum

I recently bought the Platinum upgrade for my Podfarm along with an Ilok. I set upt he ilok and all of the drivers per the instructions. The ilok website shows my license and ilok to be as being setup correctly. However when I run pod farm I still only get the basic features and I can find no evidence that it even sees the ilok .

Tweaking Effect Parameters With Expression Pedal (X3 Pod)

Hi, I have a X3 Pod that I got about two years ago. I've always wondered this, but haven't had the time to ask (been to busy with everything on the X3) about tweaking effects parameters with an expression pedal. For example, I would like to control the speed of the modulation on something like a phaser as I'm playing (with a foot expression pedal). Are the FBV or FBV Shortboard capable of doing this? Or do the expression pedals on those controllers only function for wah and volume?

I had a problem with my podxt's expression pedal. I wanted it to go to zero so I tried the recalibration steps which line 6 kindly gave me in a ticket for support. It did go back but seemed to wander slowly and eventually wandered up to around 16% as the minimum - useless for tweaking some stomps such as pitch bender. So I bought a second expression pedal, an M-audio. I tried it and at first the second pedal, the add-on was at zero. However it wandered so I tried recalibration - oops, I forgot to unplug it while doing the recalibration process. Now amazingly the first pedal does zero and does it normally, BUT the second one is now way off so that I couldn't even use it for a volume, minimum is about 20-30%.

I tried to do a factory reset. No good. Reinstalled all the latest stuff, even though I had it, from the line 6 monkey. No good.

My Question is: If there is a process to recalibrate the first expression pedal, which I guess resets something like 'firmware' or software maybe, WHAT is the process to recalibrate that same firmware or software for the second, added on expression pedal.

After the problems with the first pedal line 6 told me to get the podxt to a repair person. If it was the physical pedal or pivot for the pedal I would have to do that, but if it is just some kind of software reset, why should I pay the big bucks for $50 an hour or more work, when I may have found a question or issue that isn't yet explored. I believe they call it finding a bug in the programme.

Anyone out there help me, or at line 6, please?

Pod X3 display has gone blank

After a period of months not using my X3, I tried it today and 2 strange things occured:

(1) the unit did not work at all with the Line6 power supply;

(2) when I tried it with another compatible power supply, it powered up but the display was blank (i.e. just a lit orange box, no words)

Reading a few other posts I am not the first person to have this problem, but I can't see that anyones fixed it? I have tried booting in safe mode and resetting to factory settings, but the unit does not seem to be accepting commands

Hey guys, I need some help.

I'm using Reaper to import tracks, mix and master and finally export it. And that's where I'm having a problem. I'm trying to export my tracks, with effects (actually mastering) and everytime I do, I only seem to have a choice of consolidating, which doesn't seem to do anything but add more files to the folder.

How do I get my tracks exported as wav files, with effects, without having all those consolidated files?

I am starting this thread to share and collect information on how the four push modes of the SVpre alter the sounds of our Spider Valve amps. I am working with a SV112. I have done one test already to see how the four push modes affect changes in volume. I recorded a single sustained note (open D string) into my Boss Loop Station. I set up my Radio Shack sound level meter on a tripod about a foot away from the speaker. I played the sustained tone repeatedly and measured the db level for the four push modes and got the following results:

Yellow 86 db 7db 7db 70%

Orange 89 db 3db 10db 100%

Red 93 db 4db 14db 140%

I was quite surprised to see such a large 70% jump in volume from Stock to Yellow. I do not have the equipment to measure how, if at all, the tone changed from one push mode to the next. That is, I cannot measure with any instrument (1) whether or not the four push modes produce the same spectrum of sounds at progressively higher volumes or (2) whether the four push modes produce different spectrums. My SVpre is set up with switches to change between modes, but the switches are on the back of the amp, and it would not be practical to switch between modes to use like you would an overdrive pedal.

I bought 2 16ohm Eminence Swamp Thangs for my 2x12 combo conversion to head + 2 2x12 cabs project. Meanwhile, reciving all the parts to build the cabs, I stick the Swamp Thangs into my F3XL. I finally got to put some juice to them last night at band practice. My clean patches have gotten the short end of the stick - no longer clean. My high gain patches -- WOWOWOWOWWWIIEEE!!!!. Although a bit unwieldy, they have COME ALIVE. More guts and "tube tone" than I would have ever thought was possibly out of this amp. Do it. If it doesnt work out, let me know and Ill buy the spakers off you, as I need 2 more for my other cab.

Question Regarding Audio Volume

I was wondering if this is just a setting that i need to change or something, when using my Guitarport with Gearbox, (master volume maxed, out to hardware maxed) the input of the guitar is far quieter than if i say play along to something on Winamp, or while trying to record in Cakewalk. I always have to adjust the Gain in cakewalk down, which then in the end when playing back on say media player with finished product, the recording is quiet because of it.

Basically, my question is, how can i make the input louder? is it a setting within windows volume controls or what, is it a gearbox issue?

I just updated my firmware to the latest version. Fixed an issue where I couldn't toggle between Tone1 and Tone2. But now I have new problems.

When editing, I've found that sometimes when I click stompbox (or engage the Wah, or mod, or delay) the Tone2 light turns off and the display shows black bar on top line and still shows Tone2 name. So I see the name for Tone2, but it seems I might be actually in Tone1 (or neither). Where the name for Tone1 would be, it's just all blacked out.

At that point engaging or disengaging any of the effects (stompbox/mod/delay) doesn't seem to do anything. I have to either switch to another patch, or toggle Tone1/Tone2 back and forth to get back.

It's getting very frustrating when trying to edit patches because of this glitch. It did not used to do this before the update.

It's also begun to change screens sometimes while I'm editing. I read in another post a suggestion to move all pots and park them, which is good advice for minor corrosion and buildup on the pots. But I didn't have this problem at all before the update, and now it's happening a lot.

I'm afraid that it seems I've traded one problem for two other problems.

Any help, or ideas, or ways to fix these problems?

I have had my SV HD100 half stack for about a year and a half now. I've had an FBV Express pedal ever since I bought it. I recently got the FBV Shortboard MKII as a gift for my SV HD100 half stack and really like it alot. I am having a problem though, I cannot calibrate the pedal. I've done the procedure as told through the online document where you hold the D button down before you power up the pedal to start the process.... doesn't work. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to fix this and calibrate my new pedal? Or is it not possible since my SV head is a MKI and my Shortboard is a MKII???

Problems with noise on the Line 6 UX2 :o(

I have recently got a Line 6 UX2.

I have installed all the newest drivers.

When I turn on the POD-farm program, it starts making a noise/hiss. Not all the time, but very often.

It dosen't matter if I play or don't, it makes the noise nevertheless.

I'm using headphones. Have not tried this on amp, but I guess it should be the same.

I'm running windows vista 64.

Don't think it can be my computer, cause I have 8 gb of ram and two 8800 GT graphiccards running SLI.

My CPU is an AMD 6000+, have written it down in my supportprofile.

I have read that it should help if I got an USB-hub, don't know if that is truth?

Is there anyone who can help me?

Trouble with POD 2.0 MIDI connection...

Ok, so I've had my POD 2.0 for about 2 years now and I just found out that it's possible to connect it to a computer and download custom tones. My problem is that I cannot find a MIDI interface cable that gets the job done. I went to Guitar Center (where I purchased said POD) and asked if they carried the correct cable to which they replied, "I don't know, none of us has ever done that before." I've been to every other music shop in Spokane and I'm amazed to find that none of them knows anything about my POD 2.0 or how to connect it to my computer. I bought a cheap Chinese (the packaging literally has no manufacturer logo or name on it whatsoever) MIDI to USB cable from a local cable shop and it doesn't work at all. If anyone knows of a MIDI to USB cable or other interface setup that actually works I would very much appreciate the input. Oh, and I'm running Windows Vista 64 on my PC. Please don't ask why... I ask myself that very same question every time I start up my machine and I don't have an answer yet.

Hello all... I just got my used Vetta Ii in the mail today I b ought (heck of a price... $500 for the combo and FBV) and I was super excited. I figured I would update it to the latest version (2.5) and start from scratch, erase anything the previous owner used. I have a couple issues with the UX2 on my Imac.

Monkey tells me that i have all the current drivers etc.

1) Although it works for the most part,

When opening Pod Farm as a stand alone, I always have to choose the UX2 if I start Pod Farm where it used to be able to find it.

2) If possible, How can i get the UX2 to record two inputs at the same time, on seperate tracks in logic 9 ?

for example: Mic 1 and Inst 1 (Gear box seemed to offer this, although I never tried it)

3) Is it possible yet to choose the UX2 inputs within the logic as the host app?

I just bought a Spider IV 75 and I'm trying to get a good RED COMP setting for guitar tapping similar to what Minus the Bear uses or what you might get with a Barber Tone Press. Does anyone have any RED COMP settings that you could share to achieve this or do you recommend investing in another pedal for this purpose? I haven't been able to really find any information in the documentation about how to use the RED COMP FX. I've played with the settings a bit but just can't seem to get the result that I'm looking for to do clean guitar tapping.

I am currently using my macbook to record tracks on Logic Express (Version 8) and garageband.

I have no difficulty in recording guitars and midi instruments. However, I have recently purchased a soundtronics STC-2 condenser mic and can't get it to work. I know the mic s working - but can't get anything out of it using the ux2 with logic express or garageband. I assume this will have something to do with settings, altough I expcted to see some response on the level monitors on the ux 2. I would welcome any suggestions.

USB Audio glitches with Riffworks - HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook

When i start Riffworks Line6 Edition, the PODXT shows a clip (althought output + volumne are set to zero..)

If i press the PLAY button (Instant drummer comes...) i have terrible glitches. Theese are so laud, that the instant drummer or the Riffworks metronome (cow-bell) could'nt be heared. The clip is also visible at the ASIO CONTROL PANEL/Inputs & Recording - Tab. even without i press play or record.

And there are many small more silent glitches, to the Speaker of my guitar Amp, even if nothing is activated but Riffwork was started?

I use the M13 with my Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, I was recording and I wanted to record some feedback for ambient noise tracks, so I switched on a delay and a reverb on the effects unit. For a second it was feeding back nicely, with the decay and mix controls turned up quite high on both effects, but it began to build and build, louder and louder (feedback loop?) until I had to hit the effects off. Instantly after my amp was noisy as hell, humming very loudly and making scratchy noises when I adjusted the knobs on the front of my amp. I hit the standby button off/on and there is a THUMP that is ridiculously loud coming from the speaker. I know for certain this isn't a speaker issue, it's either my amp (which has been sent in and diagnosed before when I experienced the same problem, they replaced my loaded power tube board because the screen capacitors were fried...but by what? After that it worked fine) or my effects pedal having some weird issue and loading my amp down when I use too much delay and reverb at the same time. On a timeline basis, there is a correlation because this never has happened before I owned the M13, and since I've had it this is the second time this has happened. When it does happen, it blows the loaded power tube board, the screen caps, the power tubes, and the diodes. Add to that the price for it to have the parts replaced at $100 an hour, the cost of parts, and the cost of shipping...it's a small fortune. I can't afford it this time, and I'm really frustrated. Ideas or suggestions? I'd be very greatful if a Line 6 tech employee would join in on this little discussion.

POD 2.0 Swell vs. X3 Live "autoswell"

I really liked the "Swell" feature on my POD 2.0; however the "autoswell" on the X3Live doesn't seem to work the same. E.g., when I have both functions (Ramp and Depth) cranked all the way to 100%, and I hit a note, there is no "delay" in the attack, like on POD 2.0, followed by the swell. I really want a "zero to 100%" swell like the 2.0 version. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another setting that needs to be tweaked?

It is regarding POD Studio UX2 operation. Currently owning UX2 and Variax 600. Typically when playing a song, will switching the Variax 600 to acoustic guitar and set the Gearbox's amp and effect to a configuration for the acoustic guitar. Down the song, when come to the 'solo' part, which typically will switch to electric guitar on the Variax 600, will also wish to switch to another set of configuration for the amp and effect. Any advise on this endeavor with the current devices I own or is there any additional device I will need to make this endeavor possible?

Read about footswitch in the UX2 and MIDI cc on the Gearbox. Seem like these features are relatively close to making the job above. Any advise on the procedure if these features are possible to do the job. Thanks in advance.

I bought the POD X3 Live, I play the bass and I preferred it to the Bass POD xt live because the HW seem to be powerful and with more features, algorithm can be processed with a better quality from a powerful processor, USB2 more memory etc. balanced output for mixer etc... means more quality sounds.

I use the X3live mainly for live performance and sometime for recording, so I hope, I made the best buying for my need, especially if I compare it to bass pod xt live.

I have some questions and feedback.

Questions:

Model pack, I’d like to add more bass amp-cabs in my X3 live; in the comparison chart, you advertise in the web, seem to be included. In Monkey I installed the bass model… I have the green circle that show that the models are installed. When I try to see them with Gear box I see in my pod X3 live only the default bass model (28 amp + 22 cab etc) so do you confirm comparison chart where the X3 live already contain models? If yes how I can add them to the X3Live? In case may you help me on that? Exist another way to check all model installed on pod X3 live?
Translate tone from Bass pod xt live to Pod X3 live A friend of mine use some nice tone on his Bass POD xt live, I tried to import them to my X3 live, but seems not compatible. Exist a way to do that? If not why do not make software that translate bass pod xt live tone to thepod X3 live? It could be useful to expand the pod X3 live in the market also for bassist people.

More default tone for the main instrumet you use Made a choose in the Pod X3 live, at beginning during the first startup, you can decide what is the main instrumet you will use to get a default rich bigger number of presets tone suited for your instrument. this give a bigger number of standard tones for your main instrument.

I recently purchased a vetta 2, which has a stereo effects loop. If I hook my M13 to it with the 4 cable method, will I lose the stereo effects in the m13 since I assume the guitar input on the vetta is not a trs stereo connection?

Also, if I decide to get a m9 to use as a pre effect and put the m13 in the loop, can I dump the midi backup file of effect paremeters from the m13 into the m9, or do they use a different format?

... so apologies in advance... I've done my best to answer most of the below in FAQs etc :-)

I've been looking into getting an X3 Pro but have a number of questions, many of which I've Googled but there are a few I'm not sure on if you good people could indulge me...

1 - How good is the Tremolo? (i.e. is it usable, what settings can you control etc)

2 - If I get the basic foot controller (FBV2) the website days you can flick through "the first bank of four presets"... does this mean you literally only have access to of one bank of presets? Or does it mean you can you go up and down ABC and D of whichever bank you happen to be in? (which would be ideal)

3 - Stomp Box editing... am I correct in assuming the four black rotarys below the screen basically become your fx knobs when you're editing a pedal? (tone, gain etc)?

The reason being I do like to "fiddle" with sounds, which is why I've always used pedals, and I'd hate to feel trapped behind menus when it comes to speedily tweaking the amount of effect. I get the impression though you just select the stomp box and use these controllers? i.e. super easy??

4 - Is the tuner good? Small point but I'm trying to get rid of carrying pedals.

5 - To create a new preset from scracth, what's the default "blank" setting? Is it literally amp1/speaker1 and no fx... what I'm driving at is if, say, I just want one stomp box on a JCM800 is it a case of turning more stuff off then on? My main concern with moving to a beast like the X3 is I do tend to like quite simple dry sounds and I'm concerned I'll end up using too many fx... so I need assurance it's very easy to create simple set-ups.

6 (last one I promise) - It seems although there are acoustic settings, there's isn't an "acoustic simulator". Is it possible to get "accousticy" sounds from an flat body or semi regardless?

Just to give you the background to this, I current use a Behringer V-Amp which is ok but lacking in a few fx I require (main a tremolo) and the filth isn't great either... so I'm debating whether to replace it with an X3 or just buy a couple of extra fx boxes

Why is my Shortboard malfunctioning with my amp

I am having trouble with my amp and footswitch, I have the spider III HD150, and bought the line 6 shortboard later. After using them both for some time, the footswitch has begun to malfunction. Immediately thinking that the cable may have a problem, another cable of the same nature was used, with the same malfunction happening. The pedal appears to be in perfect condition, as does the amp, and it is not the cable that is the problem as was proved when another was tried. I personally think it is the amplifier. Also the reccomended repair centre is hundreds of miles away. Is this a common problem with the spider II, or is there something seriously wrong with it. It is still under warrenty as it is only half a year old. Please help.

I have tried to calibrate the FBV express pedal with my new Spider Valve HD100. This is rediculous!!!! Nothing works correctly. How can this be so difficult to do. It worked when I first plugged the pedal in. It was a month old pedal I got from a friend. I programmed my presets and everything was fine except for the fact that the volume or wah did not work. I would like the volume to work, so it was brought to my attention that I needed to calibrate the pedal. Now nothing works except for my D preset ONLY if volume is depressed. What is going on? I have used a POD xt LIVE in studio, loved it, awesome, bought 3 pods and 2 variaxs already, bigups line6, we are not worthy etc.

Recording in ABLETON LIVE every day.

Many of the guitar tracks were recorded dry and have GEARBOX or PODFARM as a VST for the tone.

Now have upgraded from POD xt LIVE to POD X3 LIVE and the xt LIVE is offsite getting serviced.

Now that we have plugged in the X3 and registered it and so on, the GEARBOX vst in ABLETON on those tracks we recorded last week or whenever with the old setup is it is behaving like there is no pod attached and all the guitars sound kinda naked, like it is not recognising the X3.

I got podfarm and gearbox to work in logic pro 8, but i hear no sound from the guitar, I don't know if i own podfarm plugin, it doesn't show in the Line 6 Monkey app but it is funcional in logic pro 8. Does this mean I have to buy the pod farm plugin to make it work? The thing is, I don't want to buy pod farm plugin and figure out that I already have it and that I had the wrong settings. Isn't pod farm plugin suppose to be free with ux1s anyways?

I just bought this head used off ebay, I was playing it for the first time today and noticed that on the clean channel (maybe with distortion, but I didnt notice) the amp seems to cut in and out. I've got two problems with my Gearbox software in stand-alone:

1) I can't hear anything from the metronome or player (even the tutorial track) but my signal from amps is OK. However I use Gearbox 3.70 and all the latest updates are installed on my PC.

2) The sound tends to be oversaturated. I can hear it because the distortion presets crush regularly (the problem doesn't come from my instrument or my USB cable or my audio monitors, I verified all that before). Is it normal that the Monitor Clip/Light and the Output Indicator/Clip Light become yellow when I play any note, even very softly, even when both the volume knob and monitor volume are nearly minimum?

Hardware is TonePort UX1 on Acer Aspire Core 2 Quad 4 GB RAM. Windows 7 Home Premium with all Windows Updates installed. Other apps already installed: Apple QuickTime Player, iTunes, Real Player, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader 9, Firefox with NoScript, Mozilla Thunderbird, MS LifeCam, Roland Sonic Cell USB driver. I thought I had no anti-virus installed, but I see in the task list that there is a McAfee Security Scanner Scheduler running.

Here are the steps I followed:

1.) Downloaded an ran the Line 6 Monkey v1.31 Installer for Windows 7

2.) Set the properties on the Line 6 Monkey desktop icon to "run as administrator".

3.) Ran the Monkey (no drivers yet)

4.) On the Optional Add-Ons tab, I activated Pod Farm (hadn't installed it yet).

5.) On the Optional Add-Ons tab, I activated Pod Farm Features

6.) Quit Monkey.

7.) Downloaded an ran (as administrator) the Line_6_Drivers_v3.4.3.9_Installer for Windows 7. The drivers installed OK when the USB cable was plugged in.

8.) Ran Monkey (as administrator) and clicked the Connect button to connect to the TonePort UX1 device. Connected OK.

9.) Downloaded and ran (as adminstrator) the PODFarmv1.11.0Installer for Windows Vista. When it asked which components to install, I de-selected all the drivers except the POD Farm one. I told it to put VST plugins in "C:\Program Files\Vstplugins". I did not set up any compatibility modes for this application. Pod Farm installed and runs fine. The driver has no excessive latency nor unusual popping sounds reported by others using the default settings (bit-depth 16, buffer size 512, no ASIO client). I tested POD Farm for about 30 minutes. No crashes so far.

10.) Downloaded and ran (as administartor) the GearBox_v3.70_Installer for Windows Vista. When it asked which components to install, I de-selected all the Line 6 drivers. I told it to put VST plugins in "C:\Program Files\Vstplugins". I did not set up any compatibility modes for this application. GearBox installed and runs fine. Web access worked OK from the start and recognized that I had already logged in a few minutes previously to my Line 6 account through IE8. I was able to download and play a full track recording. I tested GearBox for about 30 minutes. No crashes so far.

I hope you have as much good luck as I did installing and running these applications. When installing, be careful not to overwrite the Windows 7 drivers with Vista ones (assuming they're not the same).

Why is there popping when I switch pickups?

Regarding the XDR95 and accompanying transmitter: The audio quality is as pristine as everyone says it is, but there's something driving me up the wall: When I switch pickups while playing there's a distinct popping sound like I'm yanking the cord out of my guitar. I A/B'd my regular cables and the wireless to make sure it wasn't something that had always been going on and hadn't noticed it before, but there is in fact a distinct pop, or thud, that's there with the wireless and not with the cable.

Is there a defect in my transmitter or something? I like to switch pickups mid solo multiple times and this is really getting under my skin. I would hate to have to return it because that's just how it is.

I truely believe that there are other real musicians out there in the world, but they are often so hard to find.

These days a lot of people conduct their whole lives online... they use email texting and IM instead of calling people. They use Facebook as a social interaction experience, probably where in the past you would go down the pub.

So why not start a band online?

I realise that this has actually happened already, and there is an online band or two out there, but I thought it might be an interesting way to have a laugh.

Is anyone else interested in giving it a go and trying to write a few songs (if that's even possible over the internet), perhaps for a myspace page, just for kicks?

Sorry, my knowledge of MIDI is pretty limited - before I go ploughing through the MIDI implementation manuals, I'd be grateful if someone could answer the following question:

I've got a MicroKorg XL synth, which unfortunately doesn't have a tap-tempo function. When we're playing live, I'd like to be able to set the tempo of the synth just by tapping along with my foot (as I do with my X3 Live). So can I hook up the synth to my X3 Live via MIDI, then set the tempo with the tap-tempo on the X3? I've had a look at the MicroKorg manual and it says that it can take MIDI clock data from another MIDI source. Does that include the X3?

hi there...

i'm in a band that is starting to play alot of country... my parker nightfly has a piezo pickup which is great, but it seems such a shame to play that guitar instead of my gibson... so i remembered that guitar rig has a couple pretty good sounding piezo electric simulation patches... so in cubase i found the preset i liked the best, turned off all the mod fx, delay/verb, compression, all the splits, and basically just left on anything that was making the guitar sound like an acoustic electric... then i used waves q-capture to analyze the eq curve, and took a screenshot... the guitar rig patch used an ampeg SVT model with no speaker sim, so i started with that, and used the combination of the amp's eq and the post eq to get q-capture to give me as close to the same curve as possible on the x3...

i think it sounds pretty good, but as i've been goofing around with it for the past few hours, i probably have some listener fatigue and i'd like some impartial opinions on how close it sounds to the sound of a piezo pickup in an acoustic/electric guitar... my guitar is a Gibson ES-339, and to me the best sound is when i use the bridge pickup, full tone and volume...

any opinions, criticism, and/or suggestion is certainly welcome and appreciated...

Recording POD X3 Live's 8 channels using Acid Pro via USB

Hi everyone. Searched around a lot, but just can't figure this out.

I know it isn't Line6's responsibility to make sure Acid Pro 7 works with the Pod X3 Live, but I'm hoping someone still might be able to help...

The problem:

I can't get Acid to record all 8 channels. When I hit "record", all it creates is one (stereo) .wav file.

My setup:

Guitar plugged into POD X3 Live with the USB hooked straight into my computer.

(Quick note: The POD X3's settings are reset to factory presets... just like new out of the box.)

Main question:

As I understand it, by default the POD X3 sends out 8 separate channels via USB, correct?

Therefore I should be able to record 8 separate channels at once by solely using Acid, right?

If that is true, then the problem lies with Acid or my computer and I can seek help elsewhere. (Although if anyone knows Acid and has any advice, I would sure love you're help!)

I registered my pocket pod on the website. When log onto the website my pocket pod is showing as registered. Running Line 6Mmonkey v 1.31 says its not registered. I have deleted the registration and recreated it. Same problem. This is a new piece of kit, not previously owned, baught from a guitar shop.

Is my pocket pod registered or not? what should I do?

FORUM ISSUE: cannot post from Opera

The forum update has had a rather annoying side effect to me. The browser I use regularly is Opera (now at version 9.64). With this browser, when trying to post, the posting page is opened, but the text editor is not displayed, neither the full not the simple version. I had to revert to firefox to post this. I am unable to tell whether the culprit is the browser or the forum code, but I would guess the latter, since it's the first time I've had this issue. Browsing through the messages is otherwise fine. I tested this on 4 different installation, although it might still be possible that the issue is with some configuration option. Javascript is obviously enabled.

HAHAHA, I figured you guys would like to see this. I bought into the hype and ordered a Blackstar HT-5 for practicing at home and for a possible backup if I would ever need it for some reason. It is 5 watts, all tube 2 channel with an FX loop. At first at didnt like it too much but after playing it for a while I had it dialed in and it sounds great! Whats really funny was after playing it for a while I plugged into my SV and my settings sounded almost exactly the same LOL. It just goes to show that you can find YOUR tone with just about anything. It seems like its going to be a nice little amp to play with around the house. Will it replace the SV? HECK NOOOOO! I will try to get a video up comparing the two. I did run them at the same time and it sounded NIICCCEEEE! It sure is a nice lookin little amp!

No Speaker On Valve HD100 Head, Instead Just XLR

I'm desiging a setup for a church's youth praise and worship team.

I was hoping I could use the Line 6 Spider Valve HD100 head and just use the direct out (XLR) going straight into the sound board mixer.

However I know that using a tube head with no speaker connected is a no no. I didn't know if you guys made it that if something is connected to the XLR out then that would be good enough for the head to "think" there is a speaker connected and work fine without damaging the amp.

I want the head because there will be times they will go out and play outside for events, and i wanted something versitile enough to be used in a controlled indoor enviroment, but still able to be taken outside and connected to a 4x10 and knock some socks off as well.

Can this be achieved?

I have been using Pod Farm without any problems for over a year in Pro Tools 7 and Pro Tools 8. I just switched from an Apple 5 to a MacPro 8-core. I uploaded the latest drivers and version 1.11. The Pod Farm stand alone works fine, but the VST plug-in causes problems in Native Instruments Kore 2 (the program freezes while launching, while it is scanning the Pod Farm plug-in) and the RTAS plug-in causes Pro Tools 8 to freeze while trying to open the Pod Farm plug-in. Please help, I have been trouble shouting for a day now, trying older versions, etc. Nothing seems to work and I am on a couple of deadlines.

Simulating a Leslie with the original POD

Hi, years ago, I used to play through a couple of Leslie speakers. I currently own one of the original PODs with a floor board. The rotary sound on it is actually not too bad but it is awkward to have to step on the TAP switch twice to get it to speed up. Is there a way to set it so that I only have to click on the switch once to get it to speed up? Perhaps two presets side by side? Anyone?

I can't tell if I have a hardware (flaky button, twisty know, button) or soft/firm-ware issue. I *seems* to have appeared after a recent fw update, but can't be positive of that.

Symptoms:

Pressing BANK DOWN (bottom left footswitch button) should scroll to the next numbered sequence ( i.e. 21A --> 22A, etc). Nothing happens when I press it, as if the button is disabled (broken)

Patch shows on LCD screen, then flashes over to AMP/CAB page and 'virtual' knobs start spinning, as if possessed by a demonic MIDI controller (there are none, unless we have gone wireless and I missed the memo)

When it gets to *some* semblence of stablized...I might click the STOMP to engage the distortion. Double-tap to edit, takes me back to AMP/CAB screen again. Pressing RT-Arrow (on circle button) will take me back to Distortion page, but unless I immediately spin the selection dial, it falls back to the AMP/CAB screen. Buttons seem to only marginally function.

Is there a 'blow away the entire thing and set it back to the OLD OLD original factory settings, *inlcuding* old firmware, so that I can better pinpoint if this is a programmatic problem, or a physical hardware problem?

I have a gig tonight (Tuesday the 14th of April) If I can reset to factory -- if you think that will help -- I can get my patches rebuilt -- I've saved them all to my pc.

I'm looking at purchasing the UX1 primarily to record bass. The UX1 doesn't have a PAD input and I use an active bass. Not being an expert on these things I'm wondering if I'll suffer using the single non-PAD input on the UX1.

I know the UX2 has this option, but I'm looking to keep this as cheap as possible and think the extra features would be overkill at this stage in my recording adventure (complete beginner, in other words!).

Will the high output from my bass cause distortion?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have:

checked the card that it writes on my PC
the phical write enable switch on the SD card is enabled
It keeps saying SD-card is read only
the same happens with another SD card too

also.....When I try to upgrade the firmware it reboots instantaniously and the firmware is the same "DSP2.00 / MCU 1.05"

the fw.bin file is in the root of a freshly formated SD card
the card is only 1GB

its for the pod series, one specifically. The UX2 doesn't seem to have much any support in linux, community or otherwise.

I just recently purchased the UX2 which will probably be my first and last purchase of any line6 hardware. Dont get me wrong, its great for what it is, and the included guitar vst plugin is nice, but I do a lot of hacking on various OS's working with sound and I have my doubts now that any line6 products fulfill that niche.

I bought this to replace a broken Edirol UA-25 (that someone decidingly crammed into a closet with the usb cable still attached damaging it pretty badly) and comparitively, for the extra $40 the roland costs, its well worth it. Linux support out of the box, no messy driver installs, using jack sound server right away, has MIDI support and numerous other features lacking on the UX2. Selecting the same sound options latency-wise for each respectively, I noticed the UX2's latency was worse then the edirol and also a bit buggy with not updating latency times correctly in ableton sporatically and when doing so would feature ridiculous latency times of 40-90ms. Once it start working right it seemed solid though.

Also, this may be unrelated but the UX2 seems to have problems with a software mixer i am writing ( which can be seen here: http://vizi.dasa.cc ) with numerous buffer errors that i never experienced with the edirol ua-25. Regardless, ill probably keep this thing long enough to track down the error with the hardware to patch my program, and long enough to make a few jams in ableton, but this thing will definately end up on ebay. Just isn't for me.

And now for a positive word, Ive written this as information for anyone doing research on the UX2 that has similar interests as me (software, linux, guitars, etc), when doing research beforehand (quite short-lived too) I couldn't really find what I was looking for and decided to dive right in to get experience with line6 products. My take-away from this is I might recommend line6 to anyone non-technical as they really give you everything out the box to kick you into gear and for one hell of a price at that. The included guitar modelling software is quite good and gives you alot of versatility. A similar product I've used is Guitar Rig 3 (which is pricey in its own right) and after warming up to the line6 vst for an hour, i honestly dont really feel like i have a preference. I didn't really get into the details of the line6 vst but i didn't really have to, I was pretty happy with most of the defaults.

HWAET, point being line6 does rock but its not suited for me. Enjoy!

I bought a replacement laptop for a Toshiba Satellite that had a BIOS meltdown. My current replacement is a Dell Studio. It came with Windows Vista 64-bit operating system, but was eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade which I ordered recently (and is due to show up this afternoon). However, I wanted to CONFIRM from Line 6 whether or not your current drivers for all of my Line 6 devices will run under Windows 7. In my case, that would be Windows 7 Home Premium using the 64-bit operating system. I want to make sure all of my programs and drivers will work before even considering Windows 7 (after the Vista fiasco).

I ran Monkey and according to it, my Line 6 drives and Gear Box for the UX8 is up-to-date. So any news you might have would be a huge help!

Toneport DI-G Latency Issues

I received my Less than a year ago, like 10 months ago from musicians friends because it was in clearance for 99.99. The toneport Latency was great with my laptop, having it on the second tick mark to flawlessly proccess my guitar, with absolute no latency at all, even with recording, my guitar signal would be picked up and sent through all my software with no issue at all. Starting maybe 3 months ago, I noticed i started to get pops here and there after a software update, fine i said shoving it off so i would slide the buffer to the right to deal with the pops. Unfortunately now, two weeks ago a set the slider to the extreme far right for the largest buffer, and now i get pops and clicks every other 5 notes on my guitar while doing a scale run, and i get clicks every other 2 seconds having it set as my soundcard for my windows media player to the point where i don't use the toneport at all. There is no pattern at all with the clicks, it is steady for 5 secs, then it goes into click, audio 2 secs, click, audio 1 sec, click. I only used the toneport to record maybe 10 songs, and that was in the first two months i had it. I used the toneport to play my music through using the WMP all the time though, and now i can't use it at all with the clicks and what not. There has gotta be someone there to help me, my cpu usage is always like at 2% with a great system. I don't even care about latency recording issues, the toneport itself is having latency issues and proccessing sound. Some1 please help, sucks because this truly sounds like a hardware issue with my toneport. I've tried updating, reinstalling gearbox to the newest version and even going back to the installation cd to see if it would work and I am still getting Latency issues. The Installation CD is vers 3.0.

I run Windows Xp Sp.2, with a Intel Duo Core 1.83 Ghz proccessor. The only problem with my computer is that it doesn't want to instal Windows networks frame 1.0 or 1.1, i forget, but i have all the rest, would that be the issue, but i don't understand how the Latency has just gotten worse, and worse, and worse overtime. It is the most frustrating thing, to have something you enjoy, than slowly crap out on you overtime. Please help.

I was concerned about one of my SD Cards crashing my SJ. Joe would you have any idea what would cause this? Or Line 6 Miller or any of you guys out there? The card worked fine for about 2 months and then it started apparently causing the amp to "pop and re-boot." It did this 4 times and then I just wouldn't plug it in any more. The first time it crashed was just with one of the tracks but it would read the rest of the tracks on the card. Then it crashed everytime I plugged it in. It wouldn't read anything on the card. I had the card completely filled up with backing tracks and songs. And the other full cards I have work perfectly (so far). I have been going through the rest of my cards to see if they are o.k. and they seem to be. I have about 9 other full cards. Could this be just one isolated incident with a defective card? I was concerned when I read some other folks were having the same problem. Could the WAV files I've put on there be somehow corrupted? I have owned the SJ for over a year and it is GREAT. I always do the same procedure as far as dragging the MP3's into i Tunes and converting to WAV and have been successfully doing that ever since the upgrade to 2.09 so I can rule that out. Any input/opinions/information anybody has on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

DL4 Power Up Issue

I'm trying to fix a DL4 for a friend of mine. When powered up, the unit is completely non functional and does not respont to any of the foot switches. I tried the factory reboot procedure multiple times (i.e. hold the outer two switches and apply power) with no luck.

I removed the PCB from the housing and applied power to the unit with a plug inserted into the mono input. All voltages on the board appear as expected (i.e. I am seeing appropriate values 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V power domains). I probed the MCLK, LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC nodes (labeled on the board) with an OScope and the MCLK is running at the expected 11.98MHz. LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC are not toggling at all (LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC seem like they should be active all the time if they are operating as an I2S serial audio interface).

It appears that the Phillips microcontroller is not booting, hence no switching functionality or booting of the Motorolla processor. Unfortunately I have no way to tell if the issue is the EEPROM or the Phillips microcontroller. I guess the Motorolla processor could be a problem as well, but is appears that the microcontroller must function for any of the basic capability of the board to work.

Has anyone ever hear of this issue? I've seen a post of a customer who had to replace the microntroller and was able to fix the unit (that appeared to be a supply short inside the part, which doesn't appear to be the case here). This never left my friends house and was kindly used, so this feels like a reliability failure of one of the components. I checked all four switches based on feedback to be sure and they're all good.

Are replacement EEPROMs and Microcontrollers available? Any other ideas?

The unit has "DL4 v1.2" for the EEPROM and Rev:4A PCB.

Hi one of my stompswitches on my fm4 fell of. I want to put it back but I need to open the machine in order to do that. I cant remove the circuit board inside. I think I need to remove the knobs on the top of the device in order to remove the circuit board. They are attatched well hard, when I try to remove them, it feels like I will break the unit. Unable to determine noise source using UX1

After several months of the UX1 running smoothly, I am now experiencing very loud Buzz/popping through my pc speakers?(especially bad when playing through the overdriven guitar sounds). I imagined that it was a problem to do with drivers or the USB port which became corrupted.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, running XP version 2002, service pack 2. I have however tried loading the Gearbox program and the UX1 device, onto 2 other laptops, as well as playing on a different guitar, in order to pinpoint the noise source, with no avail?! The same noise is still heard... Last night I downloaded Pod Farm 1.11, but the same issue occurs. I have also downloaded the new UX1 driver and USB patches from your site, but once again the annoying buzz persists! I'm all out of ideas and hope that you can help.

i have been tweaking this unit.

it never ends, i am using a 5150 peavey with an mc 212 cabinet, (marshall), and lately i been really bothered by the sound i am getting, using the cabinet modeler it seems to add a weird overall bass, and i have to turn almost all the way down the bass on the x3 live, to make it sound somewhat decent but still it lacks something. i tried today without the cabinet modeler just the amp model assuming that my cabinet will color the sound anyway, what i found was a more clear sound, that does not distort as much, and you can turn up the bass on the amp model, and there you go, that amp starts pumping bass all over the way it is supossed to be. i dont know if any one has experienced this i would love to hear from you guys.

XDS+: RX2 light not lit

The RX2 light isn't lit when I'm at my rehearsal location, but lights fine at home. I tried shutting down all other wireless units active in the space, but it still wouldn't light. I purchased a Line 6 XDR95 wireless system a couple months ago. Tonight, I tried to mount the XDR into a new rack I just purchased.

The two, black metal rack ears have a "key" on the large hole through which the BNC connectors pass.

However, only one of the BNC connectors have the key "flat" area on the threads. I was able to mount one of the BNC connectors, but I need you to send me a correct part that has the flat area on the threads so that I can mount the other side.

For more clarification, the part, to which I refer, is found on page 5 of the manual under Step 1: Preparing Rack Ears for Installation.

Attached is an image showing one correct part and one incorrect part.

I actually have three different ways of doing drums....

The first is Fruity Loops 2 which I use as a MIDI mapper. I got some really good WAV hits from the EZ Drummer program and I just load those into the FL2 and I'm good to go. I use this setup for just a regular quickie demo of a song that I want to present to the band or just show someone else.

Pros = If you know how to map, it's fast! Sounds as good as the WAV files you got.

Cons = It's hard to do fills and make it sound real or human.

The second one is EZ Drummer, which is good and bad. Good in that it's drag and drop and it really is snippets of a live drummer. The downer is having to go thru each and every one of them first and remember them, rather than just program what I want them to do. All in all, it really is a good program

Pros = You really can't tell it's a program, the seamless drag and drop system makes it easy. Plus it has a velocity dial that works pretty cool!

Cons = Keeping track of the files and what they sound like.

The third is a Roland "trigger" drum set, with a module that has quite a few different drum sets that our drummer has. You know, it kinda looks like the drumset from Rockband the video game or a Flock of Seagulls! LOL!

Pros = You can actually play it like a real drumset, complete with fills. No programming needed!

Cons = All the drums sound good just the cymbals suck.

Out of the three I would have to say my fave is the EZ Drummer. If anyone has any tips on these it would be greatly appreciated. Or at least some tips on making cymbals sound real! LOL!!

ux8 crashes windows

i recently got a ux8, i installed it on windows xp and its seemed to work ok as a stand alone application through pod farm and gearbox. however when i open cubase sx3 the whole computer freezes immediatly and the ux8 clips lights flash from side to side (indicating a loss of the usb connection) i have to switch the power off to my computer and reboot. It does sometimes, but rarly crash without cubase open. i have reinstalled all the line 6 software, cubase software, disabled onboard drivers, unplugged all other usb connections but it still seems to happen all the time.

I use a dual boot system and have founds that it works fine in windows 7 64 bit, however all my vst software is on xp. any ideas?

Originally I had lodged this as a complaint but was told to place it here. I own the Toneport UX1 and the Line 6 HD147, I love them both. However there are amp models on my HD147 that I use and write songs on on a regular basis, but those are unavailable in Gearbox. Id have to purchase an amp model back to obtain them. I disagree with that, because I bought the HD147 looking for a good sound and I got that, I bought the Toneport to record that good sound, but I can only use the base stock sounds which isnt quite fair. Id like to know, if by owning both of these, Id be able to freely get my HD147 model packs for Gearbox or at least if there is a way to transfer my Amp Models from the HD147 to the Toneport/computer. ANd if there is a way, Id like to know how to do it with a detailed explanation. Thank you in advance for your help

I can't believe I haven't posted this puppy sooner! Here's the Line 6, Inc. and WahrBeck's Bier Rockin' Kegerator!

This was built for the Summer Jam at Line 6 and our first ever Home Brew Contest (with our own fcharlton winning 1st, 2nd places!).

It's made from a 4x10 speaker cab and a 100 Watt Spider Valve Amp. It has two cornies and a CO2, fully insulated (cab and head) watertight, with guitar neck heads as tap handles. The handles here were dark for the Irish Red Ale, and light for the Munich Helles Lager.

I'll post build pics too - took about a month or so of weekend only to plan/build and last minute until the wire for the gig to finish.

Let me know what you guys think (for those not seeing it before). We might start selling these next year - who knows!

Problems Recording bass

I have a Bass Pod Xt and have a problem with low volume and dull tone.

My bass is a Schecter C5 with EMG 40P5 and 40J pickups, and sounds wonderful through my amp, but recording, its just quiet and muddy. I crank the volume up in Ableton Live (7) up as high as I can without clipping, and still its muddy and no way near as loud as a guitar (Schecter Hellraiser with EMG 81 set) through a Pod Xt Live.

What can I do to make this better? Any tips on getting a great bass sound. I like to use allot of fuzz and overdrive, how can I mix this in?

Anyone know or heard as to whether they will be bringing a new Spider Jam out along with the new Spider IV amps that every one seems to be talking about?

Is the XDR95 system being discontinued or replaced?

I was just on the Musician's Friend website looking at the XDR95 wireless system, as I'm just about ready to buy one. However, I noticed that they have the following notice on the XDR95 webpage: "Item Note:This is a clearance item. Quantity is limited to stock-on-hand." The notice is only on the XDR95 model, and not on the XDS95 or the XDS-PLUS.

So, why would they have these units marked as "Clearance"? Is this a soon-to-be discontinued model?

Watermelon Wine Anyone?

Well..... I know this is a beer group. I haven't gotten around to making more beer yet, maybe in the next week or two. I'm gonna do a Nut Brown Ale and a Pale Ale. I am however going to be making some watermelon wine this weekend. Last summer I tried my hand at wine. I picked 90 lbs of grapes, used about 65 for the 5 gal batch. I messed it up because it came out 26% alc. Actually it's pretty good. Anyhow , it's watermelon picking time here in central Florida. I'm getting hooked all the undireable looking melons for free to make wine with. Next month I'm gonna get hooked up with free blackberries to make wine with. Anyhow, it should be an interesting weekend.

No analog output from GuitarPort

My GuitarPort (controlled with GearBox) stopped passing audio out of the headphone and RCA analog output ports. Input works. I can see the input meters working. The guitar tuner works. I can also record successfully into SONAR. But no analog output. I have the GuitarPort knob cranked clockwise. GearBox's "Out To Hardware" is also cranked to the max. See attached file for my GearBox settings.

Error in Monkey with TonePort UX8

I purchased a toneport UX8 in early august of this year, and it doesn't work with my garageband. I installed Monkey and Gearbox, and while trying to connect to my device in Monkey, I ran into a message that is exactly as follows:

"IMPORTANT!: The TonePort UX8 you are connecting to is not valid Line 6 hardware.

Please inform Line 6 Customer Support about this message to receive further instructions."

As you may have guessed, I am extremely frustrated that there is not a customer support phone line that I can reach IMMEDIATELY.

Please help me, somebody.

POD Question

I own a POD that I upgraded with the newer EPROM (It reads pod 2.0 when depressing the manual button and turning on the power and then it goes to 3, so I guess it is 2.3 software?).

I have a Line 6 Floor Board as well. These were purchased at different times.The POD case has a plug -in that is marked "PEDAL" so the POD should not be compatible?

My dilemma is that the board does work in every aspect except that I have volume issues with some selections. That is to say that some selections are very loud and some require volume increases through either the guitar or the floor board pedal. Many are the same volume however.

Would the board not work at all or is it possible that it could function "partially" as in the volume issue?

What would you suggest I do if I need to replace one or both of these components?

I am not a gearhead so could use some very simple advise on the above question as well as the best way to connect the POD to my Peavey Classic 30 amp & 112 extension cab.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

It's been a week since I posted my issue on here about Vyzex crashing at startup and I still have not received any repsonse. I'm going to assume that it is because I didn't mark my thread as a question, so I'm marking this one as a question.

Here is the original messages that I posted:

Whenever I try to start Vyzex, it crashes at the splash screen.

I have Visual Studio 2005 installed, and the dialog to debug the crash was behind the splash screen. I opened the crash in the debugger and it appears to be crashing in the CWinApp::_LoadSysPolicies() MFC function (appcore.cpp - line 529).

I have a minidump that I can send to you if you need it. It's over 10MB, so I didn't want to attach it to this message.

This is running under Windows XP.

I just want to get this thing working. From other posts that I've seen, I know that there is an unofficial version that has fixed crashes for other users. Is this something that would help me?

Sound cut off when using X3 Live connected by USB

i'm connecting my line6 POD X3 Live by USB on a laptop with Windows Vista, i've installed all the updates that were needed (except GearBox) and many times the sound is cut off, per example, when i'm doing a drumtrack (acoustica beatcraft) the sound often cuts off, leaving only the sound of my guitar, i have to turn off and on the x3 to get the sound back, but it just cuts off again and again...

Gearbox thinks my TonePort UX2 is a PODxt

What the heck... I do everything exactly by the book for the install and all it gives me as a device to connect to is the PODxt which I don't even own. Any ideas? Why won't it configure right? Do I need a different driver? How do I get one and how would I even install it? This sucks big.
